I have to read out a peice of poetry to my class soon and was wondering do you guys know any good poetry?

Or any ideas on what I could use?

I was think about "The Raven" By Edgar Allen Poe... But I don't many people in my class would understand it.

So maybe you could post up your poetry or PM it to me?

i know a good 1 called "ning nang nong" it is really good

Ning, Nang, Nong~

ning nang nong the cows go bong the monkeys all say bo

in the nang nong ning where the trees go ping and the teapots jibba jabba joo

in the nong ning nang where the mice go clang and u just cant catch them when they do

so its the ning nang nong the cows go bong

the nang nong ning the trees go ping

the nong ning nang the mice go calng

it's a very noisey place to belong

its the ning nang ning nang ning nang nong ^^

I had to write a poem for English class recently. The assignment was to write a poem about something an 11-14 year old would most likely understand. And the teacher says it doesn't have to rhyme (similar to Gary Soto's poem "Oranges" in my literature book)

OK, heres mine -

Unstoppable

As i walk around,

at recess, down the hallways,

or off the school bus,

I hear the annoying rhyme.

"Joey and Alyssa sittin' in a tree,

k-i-s-s-i-n-g."

I've hated it

Ever since it began.

I tell them to shut their traps

but they never listen,

and they continue.

Society has always

pressured teens into thinking

that if they're friends

with one of the opposite gender

that they're going out.

Grown-ups these days

would be lucky to see it

if kids treat love

as a natural emotion.

PLEASE, PLEASE

Shut up, I'm not dating him.

Pfffft, like they'll listen.

It's everywhere.

I still hate it.

I know a funny one- an alien ate my homework!

An Alien at my homework

An alien ate my homework,

I assure you miss, it's TRUE!

I know you think I'm fibbing miss,

but would I lie to you?

I'll tell you how it happened miss,

I was alone last night...

I'd finished all my sums miss,

yes, I knowI got them right

I was writing up my science,

which, quite frankly, miss, was hard,

when a SPACESHIP came and hovered,

in the air above my yard!!!

A door slid slowly open Miss,

and to my great surprise,

I found myself regarded,

by a pair of purple eyes!

The thing was green, with tenticles...

my heart was filled with fear!

I knew it wanted something

But, quite what, I wasn't clear......

Until it ate my homework Miss,

just snatched it clean away!

[SIZE=8pt]AND THEN-[/SIZE] what's that you saying miss?

Detention miss? *sigh* O-K......

LMFAO!

Didn't make it, though I had to recite it! I came 4th- it's a really good poem to recite, and you can put loadz of expression into it!

I may try it on my teacher too!

The only poems I make are about cricket. I have made a few so far, but here is the best... but the longest... cricket poem I have made. I made it the day after my cricket team won the grand final last Saturday.

The Game of Our Life

The grand final is here at last

We are ready to play the game of our lives

This will be a tough game

We need to play our best today

The game is underway

We have heaps of runs on the board

Lachlan has retired, and so has Rion

This might not be such a bad game

FOUR RUNS!

A masterful shot from Stephen,

Our captain

Brings up the 50th run

DROPPED!

Stephen was dropped on 5!

If he held that catch,

Our final hopes would've shattered

Two wickets have fallen

It's now 2/103

A huge score

Very good for the team

Not long later, our innings is over.

A total of 121 runs.

One of our highest scores ever

A milestone in itself

We go out to field,

The sun in our eyes.

The first over is bowled, the first wicket taken.

The score is 1/0

CATCH!

A catch is dropped,

A chance failed

This could be the end

CATCH! BOWLED!

It's 3/13

Now the dreaded Myles is at the crease

If this guy gets a decent start, we will never win

HOWZAT!

Myles is out!

Out for naught

His lowest score this year

He rants and raves

And denies the decision,

But it's too late

He can not do anything

At the break, the score is 5/28

A very woosy score for the best team we've played

We go back on, confident of a win

How could we lose this game? We all thought.

Two more wickets are taken, 7/39

The game is in the bag

We will win for sure

There is no doubt anymore.

I know that one- I did it when I was 8!

Oh yeah. I've also made a few on my guinea pigs. Pity they were all made after they died

But whatever you do don't try to find a rhyme with orange

Because nothing rhymes with it

Or maybe the one to ask is close

He could be on this very post

Ok, maybe not but this very board

People might refer to him as The Lord

The Admin here might know 1 or 2

And he'll gladly see you through

Hey, whaddy'a know, I've made a rhyme

And I made it in 5 minutes time

Good, eh? I made it up on the spot, and I know some of the words don't match exactly, but they were all I could think of.
