I've noticed a lot of the threads in the Tamagotchi Ancestor forum are really spammy or die quicky. I want to have a serious conversation about Tamagotchi Ancestors.

Discussion starters:

1. Tamagotchi Connections/ Tamagotchi ancestors, which do you prefer?
2. I've talked to KM about the Tamagotchi Ocean, and she says it's very hard to take care of. Is the ocean really as complicated as it seems? Have you had any trouble getting your Ocean to evolve?
3. TamaOtch, I never hear anthing about these guys!
4. Tamagotchi Angel, a must-have like everyone says?



I think the secret character on the Tamagotchi Ocean is adorable. Ningyotchi, the mermaid, I think is the cutest character out there. I've only seen a drawing from Bandai of her. D:

Well - I'll kick off with #4... Tamagotchi Angels

I am really pleased that I have one. As lots of ppl say, it's a really nice, low maintenance pet - that means you can run a few other tamas or VPs at the same time without too much stress
IMHO If you were running only an Angel, then you might find it a bit boring...

I love the little star jumping game and I like the candy vs pie food choices - stupid really but it makes me laugh...

Tapping the screen to scare away bats is a good feature, I just wish we got the attention beep more to alert us to Good Deeds - I miss a lot of those as the Angel often sits unattended on say, the dining table and I kind of check it as I pass by...

I think it's a must have tama because it is easy to care for, there are enough things to "learn" or keep up with to make it interesting for a week's play and best of all, even tho' it's not available in the shops anymore, there are still enough of them in circulation to make them affordable for lots of ppl.

I don't collect/keep my tamas "mint in package" - I play with them, so I don't mind finding second hand ones or used ones as long as they still work of course.

I just bought a Mothra the other day but haven't started it yet as I am getting to grips with a Giga Pet (101 Dalmations) and it's taking a bit more of my attention than I thought it would.... Gigas are still not as good as tamas tho'

the tama angels r a really good pet. ive had mine 4 a while and recommend that u get 1. mine angel is an american one and i dont know much about japanese but all of my friends tell me that it is even better than the american one. they arent that expensive either.

I have a Japanese tama angel. I couldn't read the instuctions so I just figured it out XD I think the Tama Angel is a really cool tama. Like TM said, it's very low mainteneced. I didn't really take that great care of mine and I got the best character, and later it turned into the twins. They were so cute But if that's all you have, it does get boring. My mothra is very boring. It took like two weeks and still wasn't an adult. It kept turning into weird worms and things. Finally it died. One time on my angel, I just started it and then left it in a drawer and a week later I came back, and it was a devilgotchi! When I pushed a button, It went away.

1: Ancestors, they aren't so repetitive. ^^;
2: Yes, the ocean is difficult to take care of, it beeps very often and dies very easily. o-o But no, I've never had trouble with it evolving. ^^ I have had Ningyotchi before, take EXTREMELY great care of Kaitchi. ^^
3: I don't have one, but I know a lot about them. ^^
4: Yes, it's a very interesting Tama. ^.^ I usually get the secret twin angels. ^^ But I'm to lazy to go type their name right now. XD

I have a angel tamagotchi, like TamaMum said they could get a bit boring if you only had them going, I like how simple they are, the single game, tapping the bat away when it trys to get the food, I was lucky enough to have a friend find one in a second hand store, she did not know what they where at all. And as for the others in your list I don't know much about.

Tamagotchi Angel/Angelgotchi is possibly one of Bandai's best virtual pets ever. I always keep her with me when there's something important happening. A difficult maths test, playing a lead role in a play... I know my little guardian angel is watching me wherever I go. <3

The morino is my personal favourite. I dislike the screensaver as well; it often scares the poo out of me when I whip out my mori and the dot takes a second or so to move - I always think I've missed a predator attack. (It doesn't move once it's been attacked since it is severely crippled after such an attack.)

The predator function makes it really tough to take care of during school days, but it's a neat feature nonetheless, anda number of other tams have the predator feature. I mostly love the shells and the characters, though.

Oh, and the cocoon stage lasts 24 hours. It's no where near as hard to take care of as you may think - in the whole 24 hour period the temperature meter usually only drops 2 - 4 times.

Tamagotchi Angel is fun. For most of their lives they're easy to care for and SO CUTE! But once they are very old they call like every 10 minutes. Because school started and our school banned tamagotchi, I had to take out their batteries. So only start these guys during breaks! (Unless you are lucky and your school allows tamagotchi.) But angels are really sweet, especially the whole concept of them.

The oceangotchi is hard to take care of. Mine gets hungry and unhappy every six minutes about. It's a very good thing to keep you occupied on airplane flights. I find it harder to keep it happy, because the happy hearts unfill as much as the hunger hearts do. The game is hard to win, because there is no skill involved, it's a guessing game. Sometimes when you choose a treasure box, an octopus pops out, and then you have to flush the screen four times, and win the game four times to make it happy again.

I guess taking an Ocean to school wouldn't be a good idea then, haha.

on connections vs. ancestors:
actually, i think its getting to a point where the earlier ones (as in connections, like v1 & 2)can be considered ancestors... >.>
i think that the themes are really nice... really different, you know? so that you dont always have the same characters. you can learn a whole new set!
i think that bandai is running itself into a corner here with the connections. eventually they will just be too difficult to understand! maybe when that happens bandai will go back to that sort of individual thing..

#1 Honestly, I like the Tamagotchi Connections better than their ancestors. I feel more attached to the Connections and there is a lot more to do on them... I keeps a person with a short attention span like me occupied. LOL

#2 YES!!! The Tamagotchi Ocean is EXTREMELY hard to care for. They die very quickly... It's like having a new born all the time! *Sighs* Mine was still young when it came off pause at school. Kind of think of it, I did have some problems getting them to evolve. Mine was 9 years old and still only in the second stage of growth... Is that normal?

#3 Yes, I have heard of TamaOtch. It's just that there are so many ancestors I can't keep them all straight. Try mimitchi.com. I think they talk about them a little. If not, Google it.

#4 I have a Tamagotchi Angel... It is incredibly adorable. I love the little halo and the wings in all. But they are a little boring, I must admilt.

And is the angel easy to take care of during busy school weeks? I have 3 tamas, two are active but paused for the longest time because I'm so busy! Eh! Are they good school pets?

I prefer Tamagotchi Connection version 1!!! I like it because the concept isn't as junked up with the store, and connecting is fun because your surprised "oh!! you're coming over here HEY!!!! YOU GAVE ME POOP! Maybe if you dicipline him he won't anymore"

that's how our conversations went with our version one, it was alot more fun to me, now you PICK, you pick the toys they play with [by buying them.] You pick if you want to play a game of visit.

It's just not as great. I really don't like all the new stuff as much

Do you have any plans to visit Toyko, Japan? If you ever make it there, look up the closest location of "Hobby Off". They're a chain of "recycle" (second-hand) toy dealers. I bought an Angel Gotch from them not too long ago for 1000 yen (1050 yen when tax is included.) That's a bit less than $10 US. Click here to see a photo.

That's a very hard question. I love all of the Tamagotchis equally. Connections are cool because they are more realistic and can do so many things! Unfortunately, they don't live very long.

Ancestors are great too. They are nostalgic and just simple little virtual pets. They live for a good long time and I love the characters on P1s (I'm hoping to get a P2 soon). The only disadvantage of ancestors is that they are very hard to care for in their old age.
