On my V2 and V4 I've taken near perfect care of my tamagotchis, my V2 has never turned into a Mametchi (no Mimitchi either) I never lets it's hearts empty more than 1 and on my V4 I take equally good care. Is there something I need to do? People tell me getting one or the other is pretty easy.

It takes time for that to happen.Keep those hearts full and maybe in your 8th gen it will come.

Well all I can say is that on the V2 just check on your tamagotchi every 15-30 minutes, play games instead of feeding it snacks all the time. Make sure it doesn't get sick alot, and make sure his or her training bars are high 
.
On the v4 just notice that you must have your tamagotchi in a certain group, and in certain skill points.
I may be wrong, but that's all I can say.

You might want patience to be your key because it was very complicated for me to get gozarutchi's and mametchi's on the v2's and v3's.
