I was wondering if you thought that this story is true or whether it is a cover up for what really happened. This is the story: a woman called Aki Maita had the idea of Tamagotchis and told Bandai about it and they made the product.

It is true. She had an idea of a pet that you could take anywhere with you and that would never make your house a mess and then the Tamagotchi was born. Check out the link TamaMum has provided for binary's version of the story which is very thorough and accurate.

Since we have now established that the BanDai Tamagotchi story is true (and not a "cover up"....) I will just close this...
