I just read something that the author of the books does not believe in God. And that is just the beginning in the last book he wrote about two people who end up killing God. I found that so EVIL! That is why I am never watching the movie and definately never reading the books. But people have been saying the movie is not that bad but I am still not going to watch it.

Oh, jeez. Here we go again. The books are NOT THAT ANTIRELIGIOUS. I have read them all, and they are amazing. The "God" in the books isn't even supposed to represent our God. =/ And it's not even a big part of the books. >.< Sure, there are some antireligious bits, but people make waaaay too big of a deal out of it. If they had actually read the books they'd be embarrased by all the bad things they said about them. Personally, I think it is one of the best series I have ever read.

You might want to check out the existing topic here: https://www.tamatalk.com/IB/index.php?showtopic=128020 for some background information about the books / film and the debate TamaTalkers have already been having about the controversy surrounding Philip Pulman and his Dark Materials Trilogy.

In the meantime, to avoid duplicating much of the same info / debate I hope you will understand why I am closing this thread :)
