The worst book I've read would have to be Crank. It taught a very good lesson though, and I thought it was interesting. [~The book was not recommended for those 14 and under.]

Burning books is crazy. If you don't agree with what a book has to say, don't read it.

 
i live in america and we have free speech so no books should be banned because of that. if you disagree or dislike a book put it away and get another.

More than anything I think racist comedies should be banned, not books. If you don't like a book, don't read it.

No, no books should be banned, burned, or the likes. Its wrong.

The book you hate could mean alot to someone else.

Every book has at least one fan.

If you don't like it, put it down, but every book, every peice of text has some worth, and someone liked it, as it got published in the first place.

People look them over before they are put on the sheves, you know.

 
I can sort of see why someone would want a book banned, but the bottom line is that it would infringe on other's rights and thus should not be done. So instead of banning, I would very much like to see a rating system on books like there is on video games and movies. That would let us know what we were picking up without depriving anyone of what they wanted to read.

 
Well, I hate to sound like a wet blanket, but what if the book is on communism or soemthing? Something that brings up a socialist revolution? Hello? Who knows what they're teaching in schools. ><

Otherwise- Anything readable is fine with me. ^^ I particularily like adult books, teenager/child books bore me to death. D:<

 
Ice, they aproove the the book before,you know. Your sounding like school teach kids to respect religosn that arnt theirs and shunn away others. Some books in school are banned because it has cuss words or it teaches about a religon. and If the school isent a religous school (example: In guided reading seesions, Harry Potter is not allowed. it Teaches Witchcraft, and thats a religon), its usuallyed not allowed.

 
I think schools overreact about Harry Potter and such. >.<' Like, dude, they allow the Golden Compass, but Harry Potter? No way.

It's really only private, religious schools that do that. I haven't heard yet of a public school who banned Harry Potter.

Oh, and Ice, unfortunately, that would completely defeat the purpose of banning books on Communism. People have a right to learn about it. Also, a big part of Communism is banning books, so while trying to get rid of books on Communism, we would be promoting it.

 
Well I heard of a child molestor who wrote two books about molesting children that were actually taken seriously and put into libraries.

That I find disturbing and wrong.

 
I go to a Catholic school and we have not banned Harry Potter.

We even made our library Harry Potter themed and had Harry Potter competitions when the seventh book was released.

I found a book in my public library that promoted racism and said something along the lines that said 'All whites have the right to have any form of sex with a black women or man with or without their consent."

Racism and rape.

Charming.

Books like that should be banned from libraries.

Yeah I guess racist books should be banned, but books about rape and stuff should get a rating, like movies.
