“Hey Chris.”
“’Sup Carlotta.”
“I had “African Festival” stuck in my head last night.” Carlotta traced back. The exotic song had been playing continuously in her head for hours. It’s not that she dislikes the song, but “African” had never been stuck in her head.
“So did I.” Chris recalled.
“What’s weirder, is that I didn’t have just the percussion part in my head.” Carlotta explained. She was the percussionist with a boy named Cyler in the school band. “It was the entire song. Did you just have the bass clarinet part? Or the whole song?”
“Whole song.” Chris replied. “Strange…”
Carlotta shrugged and did a cartwheel on the field. Lunch period was just about every kid’s favorite time of the school day. The band was a good group of kids, and they loved to hang out. There was:
Gabe-a clarinet player
Noah-another clarinet player
Delaney-third clarinet player
Daniel-saxophone and flute player
Brandon-trumpet player
Mikey-trombone player
Christian-saxophone player
Chris-bass clarinet player
Cyler-percussionist
Jeremy-French horn player
Carlotta-percussionist
Tito-a saxophone player
Jake-a trumpet player
Troy-a piano player
Josh-a trumpet player
That was the band. They were a very close group, even though there were only two girls. The whole band hung out on the field of their middle school. They were all very talented at their instruments. I also should mention that both girls are in a relationship. Carlotta’s boyfriend is Daniel and Delaney’s boyfriend is Jeremy. Most of them were sitting in a circle discussing school and such, but Chris was standing up and Carlotta was doing gymnastics.
“I had “African” stuck in my head last night too. Who else did?” wondered Tito. Everybody mumbled a yes. Usually if one of the band members one the songs stuck in their heads, it would just be their part. It was unusual to get the entire band piece stuck in their heads. It was very weird for one of them to get the song stuck in their heads, let alone the entire band class.
“Well, maybe it’s just a coincidence or something. We did practice it hard yesterday.” Daniel suggested. Jake shrugged.
“Hola band geeks!” They heard a voice call. Everybody turned around to see a few girls walking over to them. Jeanne sat down next to Cyler, Katrina sat next to Jake, Abby sat next to Josh, and Samantha sat down next to Noah.
“Hey guys!” Carlotta said, landing a cartwheel next to Daniel. “We gonna play truth or dare?” Truth or dare was a game that the group liked to play. They always had Jeanne, Katrina, Abby and Samantha come because they would need more than two girls in the game.
Sooooooooooooo whaddya think?
