Just because it's in Japanese doesn't mean it's a fake. 
There are very little U.S. Tamagotchi versions compared to Japan's Tamagotchi versions. They have waaaaaaaay more versions than the U.S., or perhaps any other country. I think it's the real deal.

This one is definitely not a fake. Just because it´s not Bandai doenst make it a fake.
As a matter of fact is this a really rare pedometer pet. It is so rare because you also get to raise your pet. Usually pedometer pets only change characters of animations when a certain amount of steps is taken.

People are calling all kinds of things tamagotchis nowadays. It seems to literally translate to "Digital pet with buttons and cute creatures" to some people.
