V2, and V3 interactions?

I've been trying to get my V2, and V3 to meet up with each other... But I can't figure out how. I remember I used to be able to do it, but I can't remember what I did.

Help, please? Do they have to be adults?

 
When you connect the 2, On the V2, there won't be an "Others" option, so you choose the "VER.1" option, and on the V3 you choose the "Others" option. Once you've chosen those correct options, they should be able to connect! If they still don't connect, try to not connect them in direct sunlight. That can mess up the Infrared.
