You mention both V3 and V4, and they're different, so I'll try to provide answers to both.
V3
On your computer, go to https://www.tamatown.com/ and select "Enter Tamagotchi Town with your V3 toy"
There is no "login password." Instead you are prompted to enter your Tamagotchi toy username. The username is the name you set on your Tamagotchi when you first hatched it. Don't confuse this with the name you assign to each new generation of Tamagotchi characters you raise. To find the username check your V3 Tamagotchi's status screens (through the meter icon in the upper left corner.)
When you find a souvenir or purchase an item from the V3 Tamatown, you are shown a password. To transfer this item onto your V3 toy, activate the baseball and bat icon on your V3 toy, then scroll down the menu and select Password.
V4 or V4.5
To log on to the V4 TamaTown web site you will need to know the username that you set on your Tamagotchi when you first hatched it. Check your Tamagotchi's status screens if you don't remember it.
Then activate the connect icon (in the upper right corner of the screen) and from the menu select PC. Your Tamagotchi toy will display a login password now.
On your computer, go to https://www.tamatown.com/ and select "Enter Tamagotchi Town with your V4 or V4.5 toy"
Enter the username and login password from your V4 or V4.5 toy into the V4 TamaTown web site.
The V4 TamaTown site will assemble a list of passwords as you collect souvenirs or earn prizes. When the list gets full, or whenever you're ready to leave, click the V4 TamaTown log out button. You'll be presented with a logout password.
Press the B (middle) button on your V4 / V4.5 toy. The login password will be replaced with a prompt for the logout password. Enter the logout password from the V4 TamaTown web site here. This password transfers gotchi points you've earned from the V4 TamaTown web site to your toy.
On the V4 TamaTown site, click to let the site know you've finished with this password. Now a list of items and souvenirs passwords will appear.
On your toy, activate the baseball and bat icon, then scroll down the menu and select Password. This is where you enter the items and souvenirs passwords.
