JD (and TS) are Chinese companies that make products that look like Bandai Tamagotchis. As far as I've seen, they don't actually label their products "tamagotchi" so they're not breaking any laws (although some ebay sellers list them as "tamagotchi".) Instead JD (and TS) use misleading names such as "tamogotchi" (notice the slight spelling difference) or "family connection v5". Since these are non-Bandai product they can not connect to genuine Tamagotchis nor can they visit TamaTown. I bought one at a shop in Taiwan just to see how bad they really were. It was so cheap (about $3 if I recall correctly) that I didn't mind the price. It is very bad. It feels cheap. The package says "v5" but the instructions say "v3". The instructions mostly match the toy's operations, but neglect to describe how to use all the functions. The screen resolution is very low (the pixels were big) so the graphics look extremely blocky. There is only one built-in game. Over-all it seems to be a bad attempt to copy a Tamagotchi Connection V1.
