Music Star: v6 or standalone

I recently e-mailed bandai and asked the question that many of us have thought about in numerous questions, posts, and polls across the website: Is the Music Star a v6 or an independent version of its own? Here is the answer that they gave me in reply:

Thank you for your question regarding "Tamagotchi Music Star" which is a new concept in the Tamagotchi brand. We don't know yet what future "versions" will be.

So the answer is that there isn't an answer! So no one has been either right or wrong from the beginning, since Bandai themselves don't even know!

There are lots of places on their own website where they call it a V6.

Go to https://www.tamagotchi.com

Then click "TV Commercial."

Notice the title of the window that appears, is "Tamagotchi V6 Music Star Commercial."

I recently asked them the same question:

MESSAGE: I recently received an email stating that the Tamagotchi Music Star is not the Connection V6. I later logged on to Tamagotchi.com, and the URL for the Music Star instructions says "bandai.com/content/pdf/tamagotchi_v6_instructions.pdf". So, IS the Tamagotchi Music Star the Tamagotchi Connection V6? Or is it not? Also, if it's not the V6, is there a Connection V6 planned?

Thank you for your interest in Tamagotchi. At first, we called this item a V6, but this item is so much more unique than the V5, So we gave it the original name of "Tamagotchi Music Star". Thanks for your understanding.

I agree with binary. They're confused. In my opinion the Music Star is NOT the V6, because nowhere in or on the actual product does it actually say V6, as far as I'm aware.

I also noticed they didn't say anything in regards to having a proper Tamagotchi Connection V6 planned...

I'm pretty sure Bandai's not confused.

As what the email said, Bandai was developing the product with the prototypical name "Tamagotchi Connection Version 6", but along the way, decided to drop the "V6" and give make it a release completely free of the "version" franchise we've had up until now. The name "V6" then would be an error or just a codename for the Music Star.

Codename... reminds me of how the new Windows 7 used to be codenamed Vienna... but that's besides the point.

I'd say an error AND a codename.

Because i know (now) that the Music Star is codenamed V6, but if it's not the official V6, why does it say V6 on their site...?

I wonder though if the term "V6" will appear in the Asia/Oceania packaging of the Tamagotchi Music Star.

After all, they did name the Celebrity Familitchi "V5.5" in its packaging when they arrived over here.

Yeah I agree; I live in Australia, so my guess is that it probably will be the V6.. but who cares because I got the music star from ebay anyways!

That's...not what I meant at all.

What I meant is it was originally developed as a V6, but later decided that it's no longer a V6, and dropped the title and gave it a new name. It's TECHNICALLY a Version 6, but in the eyes of the franchise, it's NOT A V6.

And hopefully, we won't see "versions" for a while.

It is a V6. Just they don't say it's a V6, like OsuMesu21 says.

I guess if you want it to be a V6 then call it that, and if you don't want it to be, then call it a Music Star. Either way, people know what your talking about generally

acually i think that it is music star (aka v6)

I call it a V6. It even says it's a V6 on the actual Tamagotchi. When you connect to another Music Star, and you pick 'OTHERS', it says:

SORRY!

SELECT VER. 6 TO PLAY

But according to that response that was originally V6, then they renamed it 'Tamagotchi Music Star', I can understand why all these people do not think it is the V6.

Binary meant they were confused when they were replying to the OP's question and the music star IS the V6.

I repeat, on the Asia/Australia/Oceanian version of the Music Star, it clearly states Ver.6 in the top right corner. it IS the V6, but Bandai is doing what Bandai UK has been doing: JinSei, Familitchi, now Music Star. No more versions.

Also, on the Bandai EU website (it may say this on the others) it says...

"Tamagotchi v6 Music Star "Techno Sound"

PLUS: If the Music star is a standalone then the familitchi would be one too, cause it has a theme like the music star.

Yeah, the Music Star package said Ver.6, so i'm pretty sure it is.

And I agree with Freakypurpleplant, like the Familitchi would be a standalone because it is its own theme.

YEAH they changed the Music star from V6 to music star because the music star is so unique BANDI thought the name wasent good enough for the name version hope I helped
