Go to the door icon and select away, as a toddler the only place that you can go is to the preschool, so you will automatically go straight there. Here, one of two thins will happen, when you are really young you get to play jump rope with a young Tama and the preschool teacher. Later, when you are a young child and not a toddler, you go to away and are taken to school again where you will meet your band and can listen to the teacher (you simply watch) and practice with your newly formed band.
To practice with your band, when it shows your Tama and the other two on the screen, you press the buttons according to the Tama's with a music note on or next to their head.
When, and only when, you reach the adult stage are you able to get a job. By going Away once again, you can scroll through three options using the A button, 1.) the music school, 2.) the cake shop, and 3.) the fruit shop. You ick whichever place that you want with the B button (the middle button)
the cake and fruit shops are the job site, where you can make Gotchi points by choosing the right cake with the grab claw using the B button. and in the fruit shop by using buttons A and C to scroll the boxes on teh bottom of the screen with fruits on them to the falling fruit, matching them up to up your score.
