I'm currently writing a story that is set in the 1940s.
It's about a spirit who is looking after a girl named Dorothy.
Dorothy goes through a lot of trouble in her life, because her younger sister Delilah is always favoured over her and she never feels good enough to do anything.
I need more examples i could use to write about how her sister is favoured over her.
eg - 'Your sister can do it, why can't you?'
And she also gets blamed for what her sister does. Any Ideas?
Examples?

I'm writing a story kind of like this in a way XD a girl isn't as good as her sister basically, but no ghosties. Mine has like, her sister is more talented, more pretty, nicer, preppy, stuff like that [well mine's not in the 1940's either] Hope that helps.

You could always go with the "parent's expectations" thing. The thing where they expect the daughter to grow up to do a certain profession or to do a certain thing.
Or you could go with the whole "I wish you were a boy" thing too. Say that the parents wanted their oldest to be a boy or something.
You could go with the more successful thing where the younger sister is simply better at everything.
Does that help?
