This is actually pretty easier to figure out then earlier versions. Before feeding your tamagotchi a certain food, check it's reaction before selecting that food. If the reaction is a happy one, like this:

That means your tamagotchi likes that food. Something like Great, Good, or Excellent will show up on your tamas screen after feeding. It seems that your tamagotchi can have several well liked foods in this version.
