I first read the book, So B. It in 5th grade. Just this past year, in 7th grade, it was mandatory to read for Language Arts. The author of the story, Sarah Weeks, came to our school and discussed what inspired her to write the book, and her other books too. Lots of kids in school got to meet her, and I even got my book signed.

Anyway, I think I have read the book countless times now, so I wanted to start a topic about it. The main character, Heidi lives with her agoraphobic neighbor Bernadette, and mentally disabled mother in an apartment. Since her mother is mentally disabled, she has no record of her past. Heidi's mother says a mysterious word, soof, and after a while Heidi develops and undying curiosity about the meaning of the word. So she goes on a journey alone, to the place where her mother stayed as a charity case, to get answers to her questions concerning her past and her mother's.

I love the way the book was written. It's actually a very hopeful story, yet sad at the same time, but I won't say why. ;]

Have you ever read it? If so, did you like it? What did you like/not like about it?

I read that book and I liked it, but the ending was sad :ichigotchi: The thing that kept me hooked to the book was my growing curiosity of the word soof, just like Heidi

Best. Book. Ever. I think I've read it at least five times, and most of the times I've read it, I've finished in one day. I can't get enough. <3

I SAW THAT BOOK IN THE LIBRARY!

It looks pretty cool.. :) Might get it sometime, after I finish my current book.

I bought that book a long time ago. I've never finished it, though. lol.

Not because I don't like it. Because I have other things to do besides reading.

I might pick it up again some day..

I read it back in seventh or eighth grade just for fun.

I cried.
