Chapter 1
The Beginning
Kira the Tarakotchi stood over her sleeping daughter and tears stung her eyes. Would her baby be Ok without her? She bit her lip. Should she go? She gazed longingly out the screen at her mistress. How would she take it if she saw Kira gone?
Kira's Shiropuchiti stirred and girgled in her sleep. Dare she stay and fight the wrath of the Tamalaw? The light of a Tama UFO swooped upon her and drew her away from her baby. Goodbye Sukie. Goodbye Mistress. And, with a last flash of light, she was gone.
I woke up and crawled out of my crib.
"Mama?" I called. For once there was no reply.
So it was true. She'd really gone. My stomach gave an uncomfortable squirm. Boy, was I hungry. I cried out and an odd beep echoed around me. The attention light on the floor blinked. What was going on?
A big face peered in at me. Jess! My mistress had came.
"Jess give me food. I hungry!" I bawled. Great. I hated being a baby. I had no control over my bodily functions or my speech. What a crude language babies speak.
Jess gave a gasp.
"You just spoke to me! Am I mad?" she asked under her breath. Ooopsie. My first day by myself and I had already violated the rules. I was meant to be a toy. Not a real creature that could speak to humans. Nobody was to know we maganged to alter our form to fit into these Tamagotchi toys. But...Jess could keep a secret couldn't she?
"No tell. I get punished", I forced out.
"Erm...this is a joke right. Or a dream. Yeah a dream. Mmmm..." Jess stuttered.
"No dream. No tell. Huh?" I told her.
"This is for real isn't it?" Jess said shakily.
"Yep-yep"
"Ok...well I better make the most of this yeah? Wanna play a game?"
I grinned.
"Jump!" I laughed.
