At Krystal's house (duh! I'm her famil
"Sian!" I called out. I was walking through the dark forest. I couldn't see anything in front of me. The trees whispered, and danced amongst each other. I felt the thin vines lashing at my skin. The cold air stung my eyes. I had nothing but a thin cotton shirt on and my jeans.

"Sian!" I creid out again. She was gone. She had disappeared into the thick, dark undergrowth. Out of nowhere, the vines lashed out and grabed me, entwirling around my throat. I screamed, but I could not breathe. I was dragged up into the trees. I screamed until my throat was raw.

"Kindi! Kindi!" my mother grabbed me. I sat up, tears streaming down my face.

"What is it?" Mum asked. I couldn't speak. I just sobbed. Mum held me close, and whispered in my ear. Sian came in.

"What's going on?" she asked sleepily.

"Sian. Not now. Just go back to bed". Mum shooed her away. She shrugged, rolled her eyes, and went back to her room.

"We're going to lose her!" I sobbed. My head dropped to my hands, my body shaking vigorously with tears. Mum leant down to my ear.

"No we're not. She's staying here!" she whispered firmly. Mum tucked me back in, and then left. I rolled over, but I couldn't get the dream out of my head.

I woke the next morning to find Sian on the couch, still in her pyjamas.

"What are you doing?" I asked. She looked at me as though I was an idiot.

"What does it look like? I'm sick!" she said. To prove her point, she coughed. I rolled my eyes, and flashed the loser sign, before walking into the kitchen.

"Hey Mum!" I said, hugging her. I grabbed a banana and started peeling it.

"Hey sweetie. How are you feeling today?" she said, putting a hand to my forehead.

"Mum!" I ducked away from her.

"Sorry. You're not sick are you?" she asked. I shook my head. At that very moment, my little brother Jakob, who prefers Jake, walked into the kitchen. He's 10 years old, but he has a high IQ.

"Hello Jake!" I said. He scowled at me.

"Okay...I'm going, I'm going!" I held my hands up as I backed out of the kitchen.

The air was crisp and cool, as I walked to my friends house. Shelby had been my friend for 6 years. She was already waitng out the front of her house.

"Hi!" she waved, enthusiastically. Shelby had beautiful shiny, dark brown hair. Her skin was pale and her eyes seemed to draw you in. She had the biggest smile I'd ever seen. I grinned at her.

"Where's Sian?" she asked. I coughed. Shew laughed.

"She's faking, isn't she?" she asked. I shook my head.

"No, she's actually not well. She hasn't been well the past few days", I replied. I thought about what would happen is Sian got sick again. You see, Sian has leukaemia. Acute promyelocytic leukaemia to be exact. She's has had it since she was 4 years old. We are both 15 now. I can't believe Sian has held on as long as she has. It's a miracle.

I walked next to Shelby. She was really talkative. She always has been. I just let the cool air swirl around my head. It made me feel light and floaty. Shelby nudged me out of my daydream.

"Kindi! It's LoverBoy!" she teased. I sighed. Dylan Brase was totally dreamy. He was one of two guys in school that girl were always falling over. The other was Cameron Richards. I didn't get why everyone liked him. He's bald! It's not that I was prejudiced against him, no, that would mean I was prejudiced against my sister. It's just, no boys like Sian, so why did all the girls like Cameron. Maybe it was eyes.

TBC...
