I can't contain my excitement now! Just seven days!

I'm getting HeartGold, idk if I should get Totodile or Chikorita. D:
Same dilemma I have! D;

I do not want Cyndaquil. Chikorita is the cute one, but I really like water pokemon. So I haven't decided yet.

*quizzical expression* I know Pokemon is popular and all, and I HAVE read info about these games...but I just don't understand. =/ What are these games about, what do you do in them? Could someone give me a brief explanation/description (please not a wikipedia link...it just left me as confused as I was before I read it). If Pokemon's that good, I may need to consider it at some point.

You catch pokemon (goal is to catch them all) and you battle them against various pokemon trainers throughout the game. you have to go city by city and beat the gym leaders in each one, gym leaders being really powerful and challenging trainers. You have to train your pokemon very well to beat them. Usually you have to beat Team Rocket in their headquarters in different cities throughout the game. At the end you will have to face the Pokemon league, the Elite four, four very tough trainers to beat. And along the way there are fun puzzles and little quests to do. You should definately try it. :)

So basically it's like having pets with special abilities that you train to fight, and the goal is to get them strong as possible so you can beat harder levels?

Hmm....anybody got a list of which games have which species (with pics)? I'd want to get pokemon that were cute, BUT weren't totally weak. And seeing as I know nothing of the species, I was wondering if anybody knew a website that listed this stuff.

I have HeartGold preordered :3

I still have my original Silver version, so I opted for HeartGold as I never owned the original Gold.

I imagine I'll end up with both games at some point. I'd really like them to make a Crystal remake, because I never had that one either and can't find a ROM that works.

I cant wait until it comes out!!! I'm getting it the day it comes out (I'm getting Heart Gold) I don't know why every one hates cyndaquil , can anyone tell me why?

Probably because fire is the hardest starter, and we're all lazy xP

I might start with it this time around.

@ warriorcat_girl

If you want to search for the pokemon. I would look at serebii.net

Serebii.net would be good as they have very good explanations.

Oooh, I want this. I want SoulSilver.

I have Pearl, Sapphire, Ruby, and I think I have Emerald somewhere. O:

Ahhh, Chikorita is so cute, but I DO like the abilities of water.

@ SailorRosette

Thanks! This website looks really informative. =) But wow! O_O So many pokemon! I know a lot of them are like baby stages and stuff, but there are still so many! How do you pick??

At first you only get three to choose from(the set three depend on the game/generation). The rest you catch yourself. No one game has every Pokemon in it, so if you want to get all 493(is that right?) you have to trade between versions and with other people(in person or through wifi).
