It is empty here. The Veil was spacious, but there was nothing here to suggest why the buildings were built on these meteors. Equius didn't like this; there was plenty of room for the twelve survivors - technically eleven, not including his kismesis-slash-matesprit, as she was dead before the game had started - but the lack of technology annoyed him. He'd brought the essentials for his robotics hobby, and he could always make more, yes, but he thought there would at least be something left behind of use of those who'd made this place, technologically speaking. It was terribly disappointing.

It is cold here. There seemed to be no heat in these buildings, as there was no source of it, besides the twelve - again, eleven, technically; robot bodies didn't give off heat - trolls wandering around, going about their own business. It was constantly chilling, and it was incredibly distracting - especially if there was a female in the room. Though he tried his hardest, tied in his turbulent but meaningful relationship with Aradia, Equius could not help but sneak a peak at their chests every now and then. He always felt terrible for doing so afterward; for thinking those kinds of thoughts of the disgusting low-bloods, or showing disrespect of the highest kind to the higher.

Equius Zahhak constantly made these two observations, and they both annoyed him highly. Especially at the moment; he sat, leaning his chair back on it's two hind legs, feet on the desk in front of him, ankles crossed, he was fiddling with a large piece of metal - of which, he would need for repairing the orange-blood's legs. The process was slow, as most of his advanced equipment had been left behind in his hive in the Land of Caves and Silence, and now he had no way to return there and retrieve them. It was cold, causing goosebumps to rise on his well-muscled arms as he worked, making him shiver every now and then. In irritation at this, he constantly dented the metal on accident, which never helped his mood. Now he hissed, having dented it again. His hands curled into fists, crushing the wrench he held. The low-blood's legs would be a little late.

"You look cooooold, Equius!"

Equius was aware of her approaching footprints as she crossed the room; he wanted to turn and warn her of his horrendous mood, and tell her to leave him to work in peace - he did not want to hurt her if his temper flared up again. Though, in another part of his mind, he was a little embarrassed at having a lower blood see him tremble. Feeling a little blue in the face, he turned his head and opened his mouth, but she was quicker than he'd thought. She was already behind him, pushing her large, tattered green coat onto his broad shoulders. It didn't cover him completely like it did her, but at least it wouldn't trail on the floor as it did when she wore it. And it was warm - she must have just taken it off. In a moment of foolishness, he paused, letting the heat flow into his back and shoulders.

"Take this rag off me at once, Nepeta."

"No." The female responded, pulling out the chair next to him and sitting down. She was looking bright as always, her cheeks their constant pale green, her eyes almost sparkling. She must have abandoned her blue cat cap for the day; her untamed black hair curled wildly off her head, framing her face nicely. She was down to her simple black t-shirt, with her olive-green Leo sign printed in the front. Because of this, she looked cold; this concerned Equius. As her moirail, it was his duty to look after her, which even meant making sure she was well-heated. "You need it more than I do," she was saying, pulling her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around her legs. "I'm fine without it."

Equius could see that she was lying; there were goosebumps rising on her grey skin. It also annoyed him that she defied his order. Being lower-blooded than he, Nepeta should respect the fact that he had authority over her. But she simply refused. She just kept on defying. Letting it go for now, Equius set down the machine he was working on, and reached around to remove her coat from his shoulders. He gripped it lightly, and with two fingers, not wanting to get too much dirt on him. Despite his efforts, some sugar trickled onto him; she must have carried that all the way from the Land of Little Cubes and Tea. How disgusting.

Before he could fully remove it from his person, Nepeta stopped him; she pressed her hand against his, the one pulling the coat off of him. The pressure was feeble, compared to the massive strength Equius possessed. Her hands were dirty; grit was packed under her nails, and her hands were stained many colors from the blood of animals she killed. The blue-blood male almost cringed away from the contact, his stomach seeming to clench. He shuffled uncomfortably, but Nepeta wouldn't pull her hand away. Instead, she pulled the coat over his shoulders again. "You're so stubborn," she complained, patting his shoulders once the jacket was firmly in place. "Geez, Equius."

Despite himself, Equius liked the way she said his name. He envied the way it sent a charge through his body, almost like a faint electrical surge, stirring up his instinctual urges. He felt a familiar bone-deep need, one that urged him to protect her, to look after her. This feeling was like second-nature to Equius; he felt it all the time, though he could easily act despite it. It had been stronger, inescapable, when he'd first met her, but since then it had faded slightly. It was still there, though, enforcing the moitallegiance they now shared for each other. This didn't stop him from getting annoyed at her.

He shook his head firmly, starting to sweat a little in the back of the neck. "Nepeta, you're being ridiculous." he insisted, and he couldn't help that his expression slipped into a threatening scowl. "I demand that you take back this filthy article of clothing." Without waiting for an answer, he tightly gripped the coat - a couple of seams popping beneath his grip - and tore it off of him, tossing it at Nepeta. She caught it in the face and wobbled dangerously in her chair for a moment, but managed not to fall over. Equius immediately felt guilty; he hadn't meant to throw that hard. She appeared fine, however, albeit a little bit angry.

She balled up the coat in her weak grip, not putting it back on as Equius had hoped, and crossed her arms, pouting at the wall ahead of her. "Sheesh!" she cried, her eyes narrowing. "You never let me do anything - even when I'm being nice! What's your problem?" Assuming that was a rhetorical question, Equius didn't answer; he just returned to his business, picking up the hunk of metal and fiddling with it again. The silence went on for several minutes. Several times, Equius forgot that Nepeta was even there, though the occasional sniffle that came from her direction reminded him. He considered apologizing a couple times, but when he opened his mouth, he couldn't summon the words. It went against the grain, apologizing to a lower blood. The very thought made him sweat.

It was a long, awkward time later when Nepeta finally moved. She stood up, and the action caused Equius to glance at her from behind his broken shades. She was leaving? The feeling of emptiness that the assumption had brought. He pushed it away roughly, and returned his gaze to his work. He'd all but convinced himself that she was leaving when the female troll pushed her chair up against his. Equius jumped, surprised, his grip tightening and denting the metal. Nepeta sat again and curled up against his arm, pulling the coat, horizontally, around them both. She rubbed her cheek against his shoulder, purring softly. "There," she said brightly. "Now we're both warm."

Equius was momentarily dazed. He rarely enjoyed this kind closeness with another person - sometimes, when their relationship was more red inclined, he'd do something like this with Aradia. But it was different. Aradia wasn't this warm. Aradia wasn't this fragile. This was something entirely different. He couldn't react for a minute, or form a coherent thought. After a while, his functions returned. He wanted to scold Nepeta, to push her away as gently as he could. But he couldn't force himself to do it. He enjoyed this, despite the cool sweat that was dewing on his brow. Slowly, almost hesitantly, he pulled his arm under the coat, and placed his hand as lightly as he could on her waist. Judging by the way her skin gave to his palm, he was putting a little too much pressure on her, but she didn't complain. She simply purred more.

With a sigh, Equius set his robotic project on the desk. He could feel that they were going to be like this for a while.

"I-I'm starting to perspire heavily."

"Eeeew! Gross, Equius!"
