choosing the gender of your tama

I'm getting a bit confused with how you can get

a boy or girl by pressing the A/B buttons

...this morning the matchmaker came and

I pressed B and got a boy...

then I find out that if you press B you can

get a opposite gender of the parent but that

didn't seem to work cos the parent is a boy...

or did that actually mean the gender of the tama

that the matchmaker brings? cos my current tama is a boy so it

obviously got a girl

I have the UK Tamagotchi connection Version2 btw

someone please clear things up for me here!!
