Is this a P1 or a P2?

The background (behind the LCD) suggests it's a P1.

The P1 has a checkered background. The P2 has a swirly background.

In the below photos, the white-with-blue Tamagotchi is a P1 and the red-with-black Tamagotchi is a P2.
