Theres not set gender for who should or shouldn't play with tamagotchi, but there's definatly a female stigma attatched to tamagotchi. I think Bandai aim tamagotchi at young girls, these days mainly, but I think anyone can play with tamagotchi, although more boy-friendly products need to be introduced!

I AGREE!

People might say girl.

I say Boy.

Why?

Well back in elementary school, I was like the only girl who had one. Everyone else was a boy who played with one.

I dont know
Wouldn't you like to at least share your opinion though? There's no right or wrong answer. ;)

I think girls tend to play with Tamagotchis more. If it were a question of who should be able to play with Tamagotchis, the answer would be "both." Technically, Tamagotchis are meant to be for both genders, but I think that girls have a greater tendency to collect knick-knacky sort of things, like virtual pets. Also, it doesn't really help that the designs on more of the modern Tamagotchis are what people would see as "girly." I'm a girl and I myself don't particularly care for the pink, flowery-type designs. The vintage Tamagotchis had more neutral designs. I see nothing wrong with boys playing with them and if you're a boy out there who's playing with a Tamagotchi, I say more power to you! :)

To Tell The Truth I'm A Male OldSchoolTama.

I was just wondering, and i though it would be a good question to ask. lol

this is definitly a very interesting survey, one I think Bandai should take into account in future product design of tamagotchi, but I think the final answer will be resolute: that girls play with tamagotchi "more than boys" BUT only because Bandai aim their products at girls, IMO. If they made tamagotchi a bit more boy-friendly, I think they could get a wider market. Like OldSchoolTama, I find the "pink, flowery-type designs" unfavourable.

Blue is a colour that features very prominantly in my tamagotchi collection!

What happens is just that Bandai makes to many Gorky designs. There too Girly for me and I am a girl!

I think it's girl. I know exactly one two boys who played with them, and 6 girls (including myself) who play with them.

I happen to like the pinky designs, seeing as pink is my favorite color. Just take one look at my closet! (No, I'm not 6. I'm 13. :) )

Flowery designs, however, I don't like. I know you weren't serious as pink flowery designs, you were just saying in general, but I kind of like it. :)

Tamagotchis seem to be aimed more at girls these days so I'd guess it's mostly girls who play with them. I do think Tamagotchi, like all VPets has the potential to appeal to all ages and genders however. I'm male and I like VPets.

Bandai HAS created boy-friendly Virtual Pets! Digimon, for example, was aimed for elementary school boys, and it was super popular. They even made a TV show out of it! It's Pokemon's #1 rival. xD. Doraemon too, but that really was a co-ed thing. And don't forget Dr. Slump!! I read on a site called Pixelmood that Aki Maita, the creator of Tamagotchis, interviewed high school girls to find out exactly what they thought would make a perfect virtual pet. So I'm sure they meant for it to be for high school girls, but when it came out, both boys AND girls went crazy for it, grown-ups paid 1,000 dollars just for one little Tamagotchi! So I'd say it would be more of a co-ed toy, even though Bandai is still trying to stick with the original concept of aiming it for high school girls. They're not exactly succeding though ;)

i say Equal

but if they put Tamas back in a neutral aisle that way both genders are likely to play with tamagotchis and they would get more Customers/Buyers but thats just me....
