Broke my Tamagotchi v4.5 a few years ago... Now planning to get a new one but I don't know which one to get :\

I'll give a note 1st.. I absolutely can't afford to buy the Tamagotchi iD.... (If there are expensive ones like it, don't recommend me to buy it.)

My budget: $30

So, I wish you guys can recommend me which version of the Tamagotchi to get... And also, please tell me why is a particular version of Tamagotchi is better than another version one in your opinion.

Thank you very much =)

Extra question: When I'm browsing this forum just now, I noticed that a lot of members actually liked the old v4.5 more!! Why? Is it any better than the newer version of Tamagotchi?! I rarely see people say they're playing the latest v6...

Angelgotch's are apparently good. I've got a v3 and v4 comeing, own a Tama-Go, and most definately buying s Music Star!!! Already have a Tama-Go, though. I'll follow this post --- oh, I'd suggest a Music Star (I keep reading logs!! Check out phnx0313's!) and def a v3 or as such. You might be able to get two.. If you want a music star, I have a link to a $17, I'm probably gonna get (7 available), only thing is the design is random! https://cgi.ebay.com.au/Tamagotchi-Connection-Keychain-Games-interactive-V6-/200556325839?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb216abcf#ht_1960wt_905

Is AngleGotchi really better than the newer versions of Tamagotchi? It's really old.. What feature does it have? Got online play etc?

Well it's just older and more unique and more of a chance of increasing in value faster then most tamas.

Besides the characters are just cute

It doesn't have online play though.

Erm, oh okay.... Do you have the chart like this for Tamagotchi v5, v6 & Tama-Go?

I wanted to compare them and see which one have more things to play with.... By the way, Tamagotchi v5, v6 & Tama-Go got online play or not ??

Well, V5 also can be accessed to TamaTown =)

Just go to https://www.bandai.com/tamagotchi/ and scroll down to the bottom and you will saw a button named 'Open'. Click on it and a tab will come out with a selection of older Tamagotchi versions for you to choose for accessing to the TamaTown xD (V3 ~ V6)

Erm ShutUpAndSmile, in your opinion, V5, V6 & Tama-GO, which one is the best?

lol I shoulda looked on bandai D: I can't believe I didn't think of that. Props ha

Hmmm I'd say either the V5 or the tama go.

I'm looking to get a V5 soon but I know the tama go is fun. I got mine yesterday.

Flip a coin?

Sorry not much help

lol

(Or you can get an angel..I just think they're soo cool loll.)

Then do you still know any other Tamagotchi version that is fun to play with like the AngelGochi? (By the way, is AngelGotchi a limited edition Tamagotchi?)

And, why do you like Tamagotchi? xD

Tama go is fun =o Of course V1s and V2s.

And yeah kinda.

I like taking care of it, it's fun. :3 I've always liked tamas.

Means the newer version lost to the older version? xD

I wanted a Tama-Go.... (When I'm still considering, Amazon price is still at $7 per Tama-Go. Now when I wanted it, the price jumpped $16 >.>)

Is Tama-Go troublesome if you bring it out to play? (Since you can only access to certain games when you plug the figure on the top of it.)

Tamagotchi iD need to use a Japanese cellphone to download the DLC right? So if you are not living in Japan, you can't access to the DLCs?

Stupid amazon prices D:

Well I really don't play. But not really I mean the figurines can be key chained on if you want and you don't NEED them. They just give you extra games and such. It doesn't really affect game play to much

And Idk sorry :(

I'm gonna go sleep but if you post something I'll respond in 5 hours :p

Oops, I think I've give you the wrong idea about the fun Tamagotchi "version" like AngelGotchi. I'll ask you again :)

What edition of Tamagotchi is as fun as the AngelGotchi? :D (AngelGotchi, Keitai Akai etc.)

I did a search using Google and found out there are so many edition of Tamagotchis @.@

Are those different editions of Tamagotchi is not related with the normal version (V1~v6) of Tamagotchi? With different games and way to take care of the pet?

<3 Ebi!

I have two v6 and though I love them... they wake at 7morning and do NOT stop beeping until almost 9night.

They need lots of praising, the stress goes up, you MUST play with them and raise skills... The buttons are not very responsive. (Common Problem for v6)

There are concerts to attend, ranks to achieve... All at specific times.

Honestly, I love them even though I probably make sound bad... but must explain how needy they can be. (Mine tend to beep mostly when I am Driving. -___-;; )

If you have lots of downtime and plan to (or already) use TamaTown site, I most DEFINITELY recommend a v6.

Otherwise, I recommend v3.

Low maintenance (Sometimes forget I have one, but love it because is always happily waiting for me.)

v3 can connect like v4.5, does not have job... not very needy. I think it has OLD online feature that I have not yet used... >.>

Also... v3 is VERY cheap. I got mine for 10$ shipping included. There are ALOT out there for less. (I almost regret my price for it.)

Angel version is VERY Low Maintenance and Jump Star game is fun. They have a voice and tap screen feature (to scare away the candy thief bat).

Sadly, because everyone keeps recommending Angel Version I always lose them on Ebay. T-T

For vintage, I recommend Angel. No matter how many Tama you have... more than likely, Angel will get most use.

I do not own v5 yet... what about a v4? Does anyone know if the v4 is similar to the v4.5 she used to have?

Since I have not played with my v4 yet... nor do I own v4.5 I cannot help with these.

For ID version... there is a way to get DLC. I think people on TamaZone have the files (or links to them).

If you get Infrared Port Adapter for your computer, you should be able to get the DLC onto an ID.

No worries about so many "Versions/Editions". I joined in November and have learned SO MUCH in such short time.

It only took three days for me to decide... "Color Tama Difficult" x.X __to__ "MUST HAVE NAO!" @.@

This place will help you feel like you're Tama Scholar in no time.

First day on TT? Warm welcomes from me!

~Phnx

I actually really don't know where to begin to answer this question adequately...it would probably take me pages and pages to describe everything :p . Since there are so many versions of Tamagotchi out there, I highly recommend taking a look at this List of Tamagotchi Releases, find what appeals to you at first glance, and then browse for resources on this site/ask version-specific questions. Figuring out which Tamagotchi to get next is always a task but I find that after doing some research and maybe reading up on some logs, I have a better picture of what I'd like to get. I prefer it this way because I want to know what I'D like. Having others' opinions on things is very nice and helps direct my search, but I'm ultimately the one who's got the budget and who's going to decide on the purchase and live with the consequences of the purchase. Moving on to some information... :D

In a nutshell, there are Tamagotchis that were released in the late '90s, commonly referred to on here as ancestor/old-school/vintage/first wave. There is an Ancestor section on the site HERE if you'd like to check it out. These don't have IR capabilities. Some may perceive this as "boring" when they actually are anything but boring, in my opinion. The vintage Tamagotchis may be older and not as chock-full of features and characters but they're unique and have very nice functions of their own. They're what started it all. :) Personally, though I enjoy many of the Connection versions that have been released, I prefer the vintage ones more. I've been visiting THIS site since I got my first Tamagotchi (a P2--not to be confused with V2) back in 1999. It's got great information about a lot of the vintage Tamagotchis out there.

The Connections (V1, V2, V3, V4, V4.5, V5, V5.5, V6, Tama-Go) are the ones that were released in 2004 and on. From what I've seen around the boards, people seem to like the V4.5 the best (a V4 is very similar). I think this is because it has a lot of characters, the games are fairly simple to play, and there are jobs/school features on it. You can always check out the Tips and Tricks section or the Reference section (Library forum) for resources on the Connections. I'm actually playing with the V6 right now. Despite what others say, I personally enjoy it. It's the same idea for the V5. A lot of members don't really like this version but I've seen people out there who really adore it. This is why I would take the opinions of others (including mine) with a grain of salt when you're making your decision.

A Tamagotchi iD is out of your budget range but to answer your question, yes, you need a Japanese cell phone with an infrared port to download the content, but this is easily remedied by purchasing one on Ebay (I'm pretty sure you can purchase an inexpensive one). HERE is a link to some compatible phones. You can also transfer files via PSP: see this VIDEO. The files themselves have been made available by very generous members who live in Japan so with a bit of searching, you can find the content online these days. HERE is a bit of info on the iD, cell phones, and files.

HERE is some information on the Tamagotchi Nano (in the Comments and Rumors section) and HERE is a log about it.

For the Tama-Go, I highly recommend checking out binary's TMGO LOG. It's lengthy but it has a lot of awesome details on everything, including game play, figurines, connection, etc.

With your budget, you could probably get 2-3 Tamagotchis if you play your cards right (unless you go for a vintage...those tend to be more valuable). Good luck in your search and welcome to the site! :)
