Tamas reacently seem like there alot more on the female side than the male, all the old designs were usually half male and half female. So I would like to see more male desins for tama's it would be nice thats all.

Yeah they're. Like DJ said they're sold in the girls section and everything. I would like to see more boyish designs too. Some of the girly deigns suck. And I'm a girl =o

Like I said, they are sold in the girls section... Which is kind of the reason why I buy most of my Tama Stuff online, just because I don't like buying stuff from the girls section.. Pretty embarrassing for a teenager!

You should make a sister or a friend thats a girl go with you so it kinda looks like your forced into that section :p

I totally agree, and whereas I love the girly designs, and tend to choose them myself, I feel like Tamagotchi should be more of a boy AND girl thing.

The music star had some boyish designs, and so did the Tama-Go, but the new Melody Crown/ Lovely Music and the new Deka are very girly indeed!

i think the tama go's are pretty neutral when it comes to boy/girl designs. the faceplates have designs for both genders, and the shell is a solid color. first waves were white, green, and blue (i think that's the only color first wave had), second wave has purple, pink, and i'm not sure what else.

when i got mine at toys r us, they had it in a girly section, but it was in the middle. one side had princess and hello kitty things, the other side had skelanimals and stuff. and right across from it was tv show themed items like iCarly and Fred (gag!!!! X_x)

I never understand why guys have such a hang up about buying something from a girls section... no one actually need know it is for you - don't forget, you might be buying a tamagotchi as a gift for a girl friend or a sister / female cousin, etc ;)

As I remember, tamagotchis were originally launched with girls in mind (they were planned as a girls' alternative VP to Digimons... I think). When they became so popular BanDai realised that they appealed equally to girls and boys.

I though Digimon came after Tamagotchi...However, I think Tamagotchi must've been popular with/sold to older girls at first (of course, the "intended audience" in Japan is nowadays little girls).

I think they are pretty girly. Since the first wave was a pearl-like paint. Now wave two is pretty girly, with one black one... which Is still a bit..girly to me. I seriously think the tama-gos are like mostly for girls now... I know there are guys here who like them, but the colors are pretty..... blah for them. "Humm, what color do I want as if I had a choice..." Black... and white if you want to risk someone seeing the pearly color ...

Bandai needs to reel the sexist thing in a bit again... Tamagotchi has always been boy/girl stuff... Even with the Digimon ones, they always had a one/two that could be "girly" now they are doing it to the boys.

Tnx for your thoughts, The mostly girl design is not going to stop me from loving tamas though. :)

I remember the v3's were pretty gender neutral, maybe even a bit boyish . Everything v4 and beyond seemed to be more geared towards girls.

My V3 has little bows and is bright pink. o.o

And my V4 is dark blue and looks like glass cracking or something.

So Idk I think Tamagotchi has been pretty good about being gender neutral though their new colors are a little bright....

Maybe they are starting to gear a little more towards girls because their studies show something like 90% of the people who buy tamas now are girls or something like that.

But if the boys side stays strong then they will continue to release boy stuff too.

Hmm, fair enough. But I remember that more v3's were boyish.

Also, the way Tamagotchi's are marketed had changed. As stated before, they're now in the girl's isle at the store.

I veiwed the v3 as pretty neutral. Go look on ebay for tamagotchi v3 and you'll see what we mean...

My tamas are almost always in the electronic isle of the toys. Then I found some in the younger child isle... With the Plush and smaller toys.

I don't feel that Tamagotchi's are feminine, but Bandai seems to think so. I don't understand what is feminine about a virtual pet. I mean, half the characters are boys! It seems that the targets have been set to girls, but boys still buy them, so I see no reason why they shouldn't change it back to a toy for both genders!

I think that the IDs are girly. With the whole Crystal feel, ya know?

But oh well, what can we do?

+Colors are neutral.

There still seems to me like there is coming more tama-go, and let's hope there will be more boy designs among them. On the v3 and v4 there were real many designs, and many of those were boy designs. I agree though that bandai are thinking completley wrong about them. I remember when the connexions came, and loads of boys and girls had them. Now though, many boys seem to have stopped playing with tamagotchis just beccause their friens think it is silly, and that's just sad.

A lot of girls prefer Tamas - a lot of males don't. I'm not sure why, perhaps, its the graphics?

I think it's the fact that tamagotchies kinda hit girls nurturing side to take care of things. Like little girls take care of baby dolls and stuff.
