Hey Guys,
I went to the attic yesterday and I found one of my old tamas.
I got it ages ago, I vagely remember getting it as a prize on a plane or something...
Sorry, I dont have a camera but I will describe it as best as I can.
The top half of it is black and the bottom orange.
At the top it says "JAL" and then a flag type thing.
At the sides there are two characters.
Theres also some weird writing in chinese or japanese of something.
Thanks,
Tamaluva
Which Tamagotchi version is this?

I'm not too sure myself, so I did a little bit of google snooping.
I couldn't find an actual tamagotchi but JAL is Japan Airlines. they often have planes decked out with cute pop icons like Pokemon, Sanrio characters, and at one point even Tamagotchi! I saw pictures of collectible figurines, but no actual tamagotchi. So I figure you got yourself a treasure there.

It's the second JAL Tamagotchi P1/2: Tamenagerie - Tamagotchi Gen1 page (scroll down to the bottom of the page)
If you're going to keep it, look after it carefully.
If you want to find out how much it is worth in value, then trawl ebay for limited editions - Jason's Store might give you an idea - he sells a lot of the rarer Japanese tamas.

After some research I have think I have found the Tamagotchi you are talking about here
On Ebay they sell for as much as $128.88 to as little as $49
It seems that it is actually quite rare.
Based on that, I would think you should sell yours at around $50-$60(this is just my opinion, you can sell it for as much as you want)
