Today is a Saturday. On Saturdays my sister goes to Japanese school. And I tag along. Today was different. Today there was a public flea market in the school. After my sister finished her class, my father, my sister and I went to this flea market, thinking maybe there'd be Pokemon stuff I want. So we went. One stall had Pokemon stuff [yes I did get some]. But what stood out?

Three rare Tamagotchis, just sitting there.

I ran over. When I told him these Tamas are usually very expensive and hard to find, he caved in and bought all three... for $2 each!! I investigated further. What I had gotten was an English V1, a Japanese one [i have no clue what version]... and the second version of the JAL Tama. I was astonished! My luck was huge finding a JAL for $2! Usually they sell for $100+!

Here are some pictures.

Here are all the Tamas I got today, in the cases I got them in. They are completely new and have not yet been opened [they still have an activation tab].

Here is my English V1, it's purple with pink buttons and has a blue inner-screen.

Here is my Japanese V???, it's transparent and yellow with cream-coloured buttons.

And finally, the JAL [sorry about bad light]. It's black and orange, has two travelling 'Tamas' with suitcases, and on the bottom reads "TAMAGOTCH JAL SPECIAL 2". It has white buttons and a white inner-screen.

Now, I have a few questions to ask. If you know any of the answers please respond to this topic.

1. What version of Tamagotchi is the yellow transparent Tamagotchi?

2. Where can I find instructions for this yellow tama and the JAL tama?

3. What features do these tamas have that differ from current ones? (I only have versions 3 and up so I'm not too sure.)

Thanks for reading and if you want more pictures feel free to PM me. I will try recording video of the JAL and post it on the internet if possible. :)

The yellow transparent one is a P2, and the English Tama is a P1, not a V1. You can tell because P1 has Kuchipatchi on the packaging, and P2 has Hazizotchi (sp?).

If you visit Mothra's web site www.tamenagerie.com you will find some useful info.

These are original tamagotchis - first and second generation - called P1 / P2 (before the IR connection versions were launched). The main difference is that they don't connect with each other - they're stand alone versions!

The JAL is a P2: (scroll down to the bottom of this linked page): https://www.tamenagerie.com/gen1.html

The yellow one is a P2 also: https://www.tamenagerie.com/gen2.html

Instructions can be found here: https://www.tamenagerie.com/inst1.html

Hope this helps.

I am sure other members will have useful links to other tamagotchi ancestor pages you might find useful - don't forget to check out TamaTalk's own "Tamagotchi Ancestors" forum too ;)

Congratulations on such a great find!

(May be a good idea to make your Dad a nice cup of tea or buy him a bar of his favorite chocolate to say thanks!)

Great finds, Mew! Now I gotta go find me one of those Japanese flea markets. :D Enjoy your new Tamagotchis!

@Fida: I didn't know, haha. Thanks for correcting me. :)

@TamaMum: Awesome, I'll use these links to help me get set up with them :)

@OST: Good luck and thanks :D

I have recently discovered the JAL didn't come equipped with batteries so I guess I'll have to find some.

The P2 and P1 have hatched into a boy and a girl and are thriving!
