You have to wait till your tama goes to bed, then the costume will appear in your items.

Aren't there always new members joining? I'd assume there are new members everyday. I just recently joined because I just got mine in the mail and since I got obsessed, I looked up info on tamas and found this lovely forum.

 
change the time to 10:00PM and it will go to sleep, then change it back to the normal time and VOILA!! its off.

CAUTION:

if you take off the stuffed teddy costume, you have to buy a new one for 2500 gotchipoints.
