I bought 3 1997 Tamas from different sources and they all have very laggy and unresponsive buttons compared to Tamagotchi Connection. Are older ones just like that? It's kind of frustrating.

That's normal, if I remember correctly. They're normal for their kind, but more laggy than Connections, yes.

My 1997 Tamagotchis definitely have a lag compared to all the newer ones (except maybe the Music Star). It's definitely a little frustrating, especially at first, but you do get used to it after a while.
