I recently bought a pokemon pikachu from amazon.com because my old one from the 90's broke a few years ago. Afterwards, I discovered all these websites online warning people about cheap fake tamagotchi spin-offs being created by shady companies. How do I verify that the one I got is genuine or not and what signs should I look out for when buying another one of these?

Also, forgive me if this is supposed to be in the "Tamagotchi Cousins" section. Since this was a question involving whether or not my tamagotchi cousin was real, I thought that posting in the "Tamagotchi Warnings" section would be appropriate. I'm new to this forum.

Most likely, there should be somewhere on the back saying "Nintendo", "Creatures Inc." or "Game Freak". It might depend on what version you have. I haven't even seen a Pocket Pikachu/ Pokemon Pikachu rip.

I've seen one fake Pikachu floating around on eBay.The game itself had a plastic tail on it XD.The real ones don't have a tail and like NintenNerd said,Game freak and Creatures would be on the package somewhere.Look for the official nintendo seal too. ;)
