I think chat should stay. It's a great way to make friends and to pass time. I've experienced the good and the bad in chat, but no matter what have always loved going there to chat up with my buddies and make new friends. I do have a idea though, I don't know if it's any good or if the chat we have even supports this feature. it goes something like this:

A trusted person would be appointed Moderator, who can kick people out and ban them for an amount of time. If that person leaves chat they will appoint a new Moderator from the people inside the chat. I do think that there will be some loopholes to this though like: people pretending to be good just to become Mod, how do we choose a new moderator when no else is in the room and how do we acknowledge who is right for the job. Or we could just have shifts of becoming moderator in chat, but I do see some problems with that as well.

It's just an idea that I thought I'd put out there. Thanks for your consideration!

OK I am going to do a trial run of this new system next week. Before this happens I want to give everyone a chance to request access for TamaCHAT. You can do this by going here and posting a new topic. Once you are approved for access you will be able to access chat during the testing of this new system.

Later saw you cannot see others' forums, just your topic/posts you make. As it is protected, didn't see that at the time of my original post.

:P It happends! hahaha. I found out scrolling down the index page, went oops. That works out better... Then nobody can spam anything but their own topic. Good idea!

Thank you!

Nah. Its not that bad. Trying to keep the users at bay in tama-chat. Apparently some users are making it an unfriendly environment. This is to help sift through the users who are making it uneasy/uncomfortable. If you break rules or are found to make problems... Mods can remove priveledges instead of letting it continue. There have been many complaints so, this is only a week trail run for now. To see if it will help the issue or not.

Also, it keeps the mods up to date on who is in chat ,using it.

It could have been removed, that was the original question....

Just acceptance inside with a new added agreement to the new rules. That and you need to be allowed by a Moderator/Guide... No biggy.

I also was thinking that when you post something in chat, when you enter it, you can pick if it is a post about Tamagotchis or just chatting. Then people can choose if they want to be able to see posts about tamagotchis

as mentioned, The only thing that changed is needing to be approved before you can go into chat. You can request to be approved here. If you do not get approved before you will not be able to enter chat (and will only see an error message saying you can't enter in).

Please keep ideas for improving chat itself to the Suggestions forum

Yeah, I think Admin knows, madi3. I was there too when it happened. >.>;

Hopefully mostly everything will be solved with the new approval system for Chat and people will be a lot nicer to others now. xP
Thanks Admin! ^-^

I get a feeling this thing isn't working very well, to me I feel like it's just making people stay away from chat. Today and yesterday night, I have seen absolutely nobody on chat. None. Or maybe 1 or two people, but these people just happen to be inactive and don't talk at all. Even this afternoon, chat emptied and was ultra quiet. Only in the morning did I actually get to talk to people...

It is true that activity dropped off the last couple of nights but also remember that in the USA (where most of ours members are based) school is just starting back up for many people. This type of trend is pretty normal. Activity drops off at certain times of the day/week but it settles back to normal before long. Now I am not saying that is the reason for this... But it is my first suspect. I don't know that the approvals would have had much of another effect since we have already approved 50 or so members plus the wait time to be approved has been pretty low. I will, however, keep an eye on things and would appreciate observations from you all as well.

This is something we figure might happen. What happens with approvals though is we get a chance to catch people who are banned and try to re-enter immediately. The hope is it makes the situation better because it gives us a chance whereas before a person could re-enter chat within minutes and keep doing so. This is all an experiment so we will see how things go. :)

I'm only seeing an activity issue occasionally. The number will decrease since school is starting up again. Lately though, I normally see anywhere from 3-8 people in Chat whenever I'm on, which is what it was like anyway even before the approval system was put into effect...
