Yes, most of us have all heard them. From different artists, from different genders, from different genres, from different time eras etc.

In your own personal opinion, what song throughout the ages has remained one of your favourite self-acceptance songs?

In my opinion, I must admit that I love Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way'. Not only does she not fail to name all of the currently existing sexualities and races, but in the track she sings that we were all born unique and that the only way to properly love others is to love yourself. Well, that's what I've perceived the song to be about anyway.

Can't wait to hear your favourite "anthems"! :hanatchi:

Great topic! I think one of my favourites would have to be "Affirmation" from Savage Garden in 1999. The song teaches us how to love simply and unconditionally, but also how to move past the physical and material things that represent love. This song really helped me come out of the closet when I was in my late teens and forever changed how I perceived love. One of the most important messages in the song is to learn how to accept oneself as you are, despite of what society has come to label as "flaws". We are all unique and special individuals - it is only when we embrace those qualities can we learn to love ourselves and others...simply and unconditionally. Link to video below!
