It was a Purple V1 tamagotchi:

God I miss it

I KNOW right, I'm not the best person to say this, I DO get angry and frustrated when other people get something wrong in a way I can't explain, I AM a bit sharp-tongued and abrasive but please don't take offence.
Nobody has memories of Tamagotchi here, everybody still owns their Tamagotchi and still plays with it. Tamagotchis aren't gone. Sure, we have memories, because most of us are twelve and got one when we were five, but we don't look back on them because they are in our lives now. So there's no flash back on them! It's like saying "what was your favourite memory of McDonalds? A little flash back on our favourite little cafe" because McDonalds still exists and still is popular. Here you will find that most members still play with Tamagotchi, and you'll even find collectors. Tamagotchis may be gone everywhere else, but TamaTalk is the one place where they live on!

That's amazing that you found your Tamagotchi again years later! It was just meant to be; that you were supposed to find each other again.
I've got a lot of fond memories of Tamagotchi. I got my first one when I was in middle school and I'm doing a post-graduate degree now and I'm still playing with them, so plenty of stories to tell. The most vivid one that comes to mind now involves a family trip. When I first got my Tamagotchi, I carried it with me everywhere. One summer, my family and I took a vacation to a location where they have these huge redwood trees that we can enjoy. I remember just sitting on top of this huge tree trunk of a tree that had fallen down and I was playing with my Tamagotchi. I think I even have a picture of that moment somewhere. I was just sitting there, with my Tamagotchi's key chain hooked to one of the belt loops of my pants (back when Tamagotchi was small enough to carry around and not be noticeable...*cough cough Tama Go cough*) and grinning like crazy. Ahh, good times.

The only funny thing about my Tamas is I have this one V3 that I've been naming all the generations after people I work with, so whenever I got a "Tamagotchi Break" (equivalent to a smoke break at work) I'd be like "Well great, Tom crapped on the floor." or something to that effect. People who knew what was going on would laugh, everyone else (the majority) would be confused.
I even riled up the assistant manager when I named a Tama after him that happened to be Tom's baby (Tom is another manager). Good times, good times.

ANYWAY back to the topic at hand. I remember when I was 7 years old in 1997, and my Daddy bought me my very first P1. I loved it so so well, it would come with me when I brushed my teeth, it would sit at the table with me while I ate, my mum used to seal it in a Tupperware container while I was in the bath, and when I slept it was on the pillow next to me. That half are my favorite memories. My worst was probably waking up really late one Saturday because I stayed up to watch the Friday night movies with my dad (still 7, still the same tama) and when I woke up and peered over at my little Tam, there was the little wiggly ghost and a gravestone, and i was frozen for about 5 seconds, then just started bawling. I remember running to my parents asking them to fix it, and then they got upset because I was so so devastated. It was the first time one had died on me. I got to have pizza for dinner though so I guess it isn't all bad
