Tamagotchi iD Download Help

Is it possible to downlaod things onto a Tamagotchi iD without an infrared cell phone? I would never be allowed to buy another cell phone and I really want to download stuff. I think I read somewhere that you could downlaod things without a cell phone but I'm not sure.

Some people have had some luck using an USB-IR adapter attached to their PC. A TamaTalk user explains how they got a USB-IR dongle to work:

Because it's not necessary to have service on the cellphone in order to use it to beam files over, many people simply purchase a used compatible cellphone off e-bay for this purpose.
