Confused by fake V3

Hey everyone!

Recently I purchased this Australian V3, or at least what I believed was an Australian V3. A little history on how I got my hands on this before I give more details upon discovering it's a fake (which I'm slightly bummed about, but in the grand scheme of it all, its just a Tamagotchi).

I purchased the V3 new from a seller in LA. The transaction was done over eBay, seller had a good rating, etc. No noticeable signs that this V3 was a fake. Upon receiving the package, I didn't notice anything unusual. I have a similar V3, only with a dolphin design; it's new in package and looks exactly like THIS. From doing a little digging, it appears that the owner of the photo took part in a hatch from TamaZone. Everything appears normal.

When I opened the package, I noticed there were instructions in an Asian language, but the packaging is mostly English with the exception of the "Caution" disclaimer on the back. Not unusual as I have some Asian Pacific V4s that share the same packaging attributes. Next I untabbed the V3 and heard a dull, long beep. The screen slowly appeared with an unusual Tamagotchi-like character. I immediately noticed the size of the pixels were larger than any other Tamagotchi from the Connection series. I was confused because I received the package new and everything appeared to be legit. Anyway, I took some photos to give everyone a better idea of how well this fake was produced. I am really confused because I thought most Tamagotchi fakes were fairly obvious just from the packaging alone. You can browse the photos HERE. I am not going to pursue contacting the seller as this was the only Tamagotchi he was selling at the time - and I can't hold them responsible for a fake when even I couldn't call it.

I just recently bought another Australian V3 so I'm crossing my fingers that this isn't another fake because I was hoping to get some good gameplay out of this V3. Does anyone else have a similar experience in purchasing a fake Tamagotchi that looks almost identical as an official one?

I'm still floored that someone was able to bootleg this V3 as cleverly as they did!

It's a real fake considering the pixels are way too big, the V3s never had that design, the screw is supposed to be flat, only the Keitais had the tags, the CAUTION! Battery harmful if swallowed is way too big and has Chinese words on the back, the backgorund has arrows instead of the normal circles, the health meters are definitely fake. All I can think of. You can either probably use it for parts (I recommend for broken legit tamagotchis) or keep them for collection purposes.

Also, I forgot to do this yesterday, the Tamagotchi logo is way too far to the left and it's supposed to have the logo without the border, that makes it Connection instead of Connexion. And, I see the item is from Hong Kong, not Australia, Hong Kong always has fake stuff. |l|

Wow, that's a very convincing bootleg.

The pixel graphics (similar to those on many bootleg virtual pets) do indeed give it away, but without turning it on first, it looks pretty close. o_o

Even if you're not going to ask for a refund, do contact the seller if you can and let them know that the item was a bootleg.

That way they won't make the mistake again and sell these things to anyone else while thinking that they're legit.

Yet I agree I had a v3 and none of its charecters screens looked like that

But then again usually fake sellers hope to get heaps of money for hardly anything but that tama would have taken a lot of effort,time and possibly money.

Also, it says Digital Friends Of The World, which only the Japanese Colors have.

Wow, they even faked the BanDai logo! This is definitely illegal, you should contact BanDai and the seller.

wow! Thats a pretty amazing fake. Depending on how the insides are you can replace an old v3 with a wrecked shell and put it in that cute yellow one!

that is possibly a tamagotchi keitai cause it looks exactly like it
