Lost On Earth- A Tamagotchi Fan Fiction Pt 3

Just as Ali had told us the day before, we were all walking along the path again at 7 am. Ali was leading the way, Steven following next to her, Melody and I in the back.

“Lets take a break, wandering around isn’t going to help us find Tori,” Al sat down on a nearby log.

“Okay, so, what’s our plan?” I asked.

Ali stared at the ground for a few seconds, thinking, and looked up again, “Not sure,”

“I have a map of the path, I picked one up this morning,” I dug it out of my purse, sat down and, spread it out on the forest floor.

Ali looked over it, “I guess we could cut through the trees a—“

“No. Never. We’re staying on the path, where we’re less likely to fall in a well or a hole or a ditch,” Melody trailed off.

Ali rolled her eyes, “Fine. But I’ve never heard of a well in the middle of the forest. We could go right at the fork up ahead, let’s go,”

She folded up the map and handed it back to me, I promptly stuck it back in my purse. We all continued following Ali down the path, listening for signs that someone was there. Eventually, we came to a stream. Ali looked both ways slowly, as if she was about to cross the street.

“I think it’s safe to cross,” She bent down, picked up a dry stick and stuck it in the water, holding the end, then taking it back out, “The water isn’t too deep,”

Melody whimpered, biting her lip, “I don’t like water unless it’s rain, snow or in a glass.”

“We could go two at a time,” Ali suggested, “Steven?”

Ali and Steven held hands; Steven took the first step across, putting his foot on a large, bumpy stepping stone. Ali went next, following close behind. On the third rock, Ali lost her footing. She put her other hand on Steven’s shoulder for balance.

“Got it?” Steven asked.

Ali nodded, blushing, “Y-yeah,”

But, on the last rock, she lost her footing again. Steven pulled her into a hug, Ali regained her balance, her shoulders relaxed and her expression grew softer, rather than focused like it usually is, she was grinning. Ali hugged him back, even though she didn’t need to as he had hugged her so she wouldn’t fall. Steven didn’t seem to care, he was blushing and grinning.

“Thanks,” I heard Ali say when they hopped to shore moments later.

I didn’t catch Steven’s reply. Melody tapped me on the shoulder, looking scared, “I’m ready,”

I nodded, Tamagotchi are taller that I thought they’d be, Ali and Melody are around four feet tall, Steven is maybe 4’ 2” so Melody could reach my hand without a problem. We quickly hopped across the creek, Melody eager to get to land again.

“All right, let’s keep moving, I know Tori—“ Ali stopped, her ears moved back, so did Melody’s and Steven’s.

It took me a second but I heard a girlish scream.

“Tori!” Melody, Ali and Steven shouted in unison, starting in a sprint down the path, I went after them.

“TORI!” Ali stopped a few seconds later.

“ALI?! UP HERE!”

All at once, we looked up to the tall trees.

Ali mumbled something under her breath then yelled, “Why the heck are you in a tree?!”

“It’s safer?” Someone replied, I could barely hear her.

Ali shook her head and started climbing the tree beside her; I could see someone at the top.

“Be careful!” Melody squeaked, her right hand covering her mouth.

Ali laughed, “Melody, I’m climbing a tree,” She lifted herself up another limb, “I’ve done this before,”

Melody’s voice filled with anxiety, “Okay…”

“Do you see her?” I shouted. Ali was a quick climber; she was almost to who I’m thinking is Tori.

“She’s right here,” Ali yelled back.

She said something to the Tamagotchi next to her they started to climb down together.

Then, I heard a crack on the second limb down that Ali was on. By the look of her face, she heard it too. But, being confident Ali, she swung over to a different branch; Tori did too… on the same branch at the same time. Ali’s side of the branch split in two, she clung to the branch below her, not looking the least bit shaken. Melody covered her eyes. Crack.

Ali was falling.

Steven, Melody, and I sprinted over to where she might land, I took off my jacket, we all grabbed a side and used it as a makeshift net. She dropped in the middle of it, actually landing on her feet. That’s Ali.

“Oh my gotchi, Ali!” Tori eased herself off the last branch and rushed over.

She was a Moriritchi, about as tall as Ali and Melody. Her sparkly eyes were full of concern.

“I’m okay,” Ali said calmly, as if she didn’t just fall from a 20-foot tree.

Melody looked like she was about to faint, “Are you sure? You didn’t break anything?”

Ali nodded, sitting down now, “I’m fine,” She sighed with relief, “Thank you,”

“You really scared us,” I managed, my voice shaky.

Steven sat beside her, grinning, “You have to be more careful,”

“Careful isn’t always in my dictionary,” She replied playfully, laying her head on his shoulder, smiling, “How about camping out here and walking back to Katia’s tomorrow morning?”

“Okay but how will my parents feel about me missing for another day?” I asked.

“We could use a time key,” Ali suggested, the other Tamagotchi nodded in agreement, “It takes all of us back to the time we left, we’ll still be together even when we go back. And, we’ll remember everything that happened, but others won’t. But, until then, we should all get some rest.”

***

I woke up, and looked around our tent, it was dark still. I patted my arm, feeling for my watch and hit a button. The screen glowed green, 11:05 pm. Two Tamagotchi were missing from their sleeping bags again, Ali and Steven’s spots were empty. I rolled onto my side and unzipped the tent enough to look out. Ali and Steven were sitting next to each other, stargazing again. They turned to each other, already close, their lips met. After three seconds, they both pulled away, grinning. Ali whispered something to him, he said something back and they looked back up to the sky.

I slowly zipped to tent back up again, I knew it. Melody and I were right; Ali and Steven like each other, Ali just wasn’t exactly showing it when everyone was around.

(Edit: Two of the paragraphs ran together, It didn't make much sense. Sorry about that!)
