With some of my iD L characters, there's a banner that says "Happy Birthday". When does this happen? Is it when I get to a certain generation, or is it just ranbom? I want to know why it's my Tama's birthday...

Each adult character has a birthday and when it happens to be a certain character's birthday, decorations are put up. It's Shinshitchi's birthday on May 7th. Keep an eye out because there's typically a birthday animation at 12:30 pm and again at 3:30 pm. I think I've even caught it at 7:30 am at times. You can find the list of birthdays HERE.
On a related note, birthday decorations go up when your birthday (because you entered that date into your Tamagotchi at start-up) rolls around too.

Just to confirm, the 7:30 one is usually easiest to catch because it's right after they wake up.

all i know is that shiguretchi's birthday is on november 15th she my favourite character which is ackward because my birthday is in november to!

My tamagotchi does that, too. I have a Nannokitchi and it has been saying happy birthday today, since the morning.
