Do you guys think I might learn Romanian soon enough?

because there's this guy I love, he's a musician, and um, he's Romanian......and I was wondering if I can learn his language someday.

Like any language that is not your native tongue, it does take time to learn. But of course you can learn if you really set your heart on it! I would suggest looking online for free courses in Romanian or look for an iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch or Android app that teaches the basics.

Keep in mind that writing and speaking usually go hand-in-hand when learning a new language - and the learning process takes years just to establish the basics. If you really enjoy learning Romanian, perhaps someday you will have a chance to visit countries where it is spoken. Being completely immersed in a country where the language is very prominent is also a great way to learn. Good luck and have fun! :mimitchi:

The only thing with Romanian is that it's a lot more difficult at first to get your head around. There are three different noun genders (compared to us having none) and there are a huge amount of different future tenses. It's a bit easier if you already speak a romance language (Such as French or Italian).

Because Romanian's not as popular as other language choices, I wouldn't put as much trust in online courses. The best way would be buying your own books and audio materials, but they don't tend to come cheap. I'd reccommend LiveMocha if you decide that you only want to learn basic phrases, but for serious language learning I don't think it's enough.

As graficks said, the best way of learning a language is complete immersion. Once you've mastered the grammar of the language, move onto learning the vocabulary by being around the language for as much as possible. Whether that's using Anki flashcards or just listening to music is up to you, but you should aim to read and write in it every day if possible. The length of time it takes you to learn will depend on the amount of time per day that you spend on it.
