They're alkaline, right? The batteries I have in my English Tamagotchi iD L are just cheap ($2 for a pack of 4) "dollar store" alkaline ones. This pair have lasted 6 full generations (a month and a half) so far. The shortest I remember seeing a set of batteries last in a color-screen model is about a month - and that was because I was connecting a lot.

Just like what binary said, use alkaline batteries (similar to Energizer and stuff), not the standard ones. Also try to avoid using rechargeable batteries as well.

I use Eneloop rechargeable batteries and they work just fine...I can't even remember when I had to change the batteries last. xD

If you set the screen brightness to a lower setting, battery life will improve.
