There's no good way to tell them apart just by looking at them but the difference in gameplay mainly is that the V2 introduces gotchi points and items as well as new characters

V1 is a bit boring (without offending n e one ) and v2 has super cute characters...
v1 has only a few of characters and has no gp and items. Well... actually it has items, but you need another v1 for it to work. (you get them by connection). It has also only two games. It has cute animations though.
v2 has many characters (a lot of them exclusive for this version) as well as shop and games and items. it also has 4 games.
