i woke up this morning, the backround was a birthday theme. i had a cowboytchi. even childs have birthdays? i thought it tama parties was only for adults!

Today is Sunopotchi's birthday! Everytime a tamagotchi character's birthday is up, decorations are displayed. You must have missed 7:30 am, Sunopotchi appeared!

Yes, exactly like Tamageff has said, a certain character celebrates their birthday when you see a birthday party in your living room. The birthday animations play at 7:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 3:30 PM.

The P's no longer have the birthday stuff on the living room. They've taken it out.

well, i did see an animation about sunopotchi saying happy birthday and holdind a cup of ice cream....

You're right. The birthday banners that are displayed are for adult character birthdays. It was just a coincidence that you happened to be at the toddler stage on the day of an adult character's birthday.

I think I kind of worded that incorrectly.
The living room birthday decorations are taken out in the P's but there are still birthdays.
If a certain character celebrates a birthday, you will see a birthday card animation at certain times, displaying the name of the celebrant.
When your character visits the restaurant, you will meet the character who's having their birthday and you get to eat with them for free.
