It seemed like a typical Friday morning, as Makiko woke up and started getting ready for school. Makiko carefully brushed out her curls and then grabbed her backpack from her chair next to her desk. She headed down to the kitchen where her Mum was cooking breakfast.
" Good Morning Honey, there's some toast on the table for you" Her Mum says not looking up. Makiko takes a piece of peanut buttered toast and sits down to eat it.
"Thanks Ma, this is really good" Makiko says munching and gulping down some milk. Once shes finished, she clears away her dishes into the dishwasher and says good-bye to her Mum. She then heads out the front door and starts making her way to the bus stop. Once she's there, she takes a seat next to her usual fellow bus riders: Mametchi, his little sis Chamametchi, her worst enemy Memetchi and of course Androtchi. Mametchi notices Makiko has arrived and gives her a smile. Makiko smiles back blushing. Makiko notices that Chamametchi looks very nervous and fidgety, and she won't sit still. Mametchi seems to keep having to whisper to her to behave. It must be Chamametchi's first day Makiko thinks to herself.
Makiko is at school by 8:15am like usual. Once off the bus she scans the playground for her best friend Lovelitchi. Lovelitchi doesn't seem to be around, so shes probably late for school. Lovelitchi doesn't always wake up early enough and seems to completely ignore her alarm clock which makes her late for school almost every morning. Mr. Turtlpedia our teacher, doesn't always approve of this. And usually Lovelitchi ends up getting a lot of detentions.
Makiko waits around a little while longer for Lovelitchi, but after a while decides it's getting late and that she had better head to class. She can catch up with Lovelitchi later on during break.
Makiko dashes into class just as the second bell rings out across the school. By the second bell every student has to be in class. Makiko has just made it by the skin of her teeth. She takes her usual seat at the back next to Kikitchi. makiko doesn't really like Kikitchi, he seems to talk too much and always tries to copy Makiko's work. Mr.Turtlepedia refuses to move him or Makiko though.
The class are very quiet today for some reason. Mr. Turtlepedia hasn't arrived yet so he must still be sorting the days work out up in the staff-room. The class seem nervous and tense. Even Kikitchi is pretty quiet. Maybe there's a test on today? Or something horrible has happened to a student? Makiko decides to find out, so she nudges Ponytchi who is sitting on the other side of her and whispers "Hey, why is everyone so.... so.... quiet? Is there something wrong?" Makiko whispers.
Ponytchi replies "Makiko... erm... do you watch the 7:30am news? Because um..." Ponytchi drifts off looking pale.
"Because why?? I usually watch it but i slept in a bit today so i couldn't. Why what's happened?" Makiko asks in a more urgent whisper this time.
"Um... well it seems there is something very wrong with Tamagotchi Planet. The news reporter was all stuttery and white looking this morning. She told us, something very bad is going to happen to Tamagotchi Planet. But she has no idea what it is, because she couldn't find out anymore information..." Ponytchi drifted off again, but Makiko didn't need anymore info. All of a sudden she felt nervous and scared. What's wrong with Tamagotchi Planet? What could possibly be wrong with it?
Makiko doesn't have anymore time to think this weird situation over because Mr. Turtlepedia has stumbled into the classroom. Like everyone else he seems all jiggly and white. Once he's seated at his desk and has sorted himself out, he turns his attention to the class.
"Ok... Class... Um... Today we are going to be continuing on with yesterdays essay on The Different Stages of Baby Development. So.. i would like you all to get yours out of your folders and i will be coming round to see how everyone is going so far." Mr.Turtlepedia finished speaking and then started moving around the room. He didn't say anything about Tamagotchi Planet.
There was a lot of rustling and bustling as everyone brought out their folders and pens and began writing. No one spoke or even whispered. Everyone was so quiet you could hear a pin drop on the floor.....
