Dimensions are tricky things. They're all balanced upon each other, and require one and another to stay upright. They're created perfectly, so that every single one can thrive as long as the other do not crumble, just like a tower made of cards. If one card falls, the rest fall. If one dimension dies, the rest die. But what if the dimension we are in, the one that holds Earth and humans, went into complete chaos? People suddenly began to attack the other, as if a fuse had been lit. The dimensional barrier for Earth and it's people were decaying, the dimension was dying.
A spirit, one that was witnessing it all from the side, decided to take action. It wanted to save the humans that were still pure, and bring them to an unaffected dimension. However, travelling humans between dimensions wasn't easy. They'd undergo odd trials, running through dimensions and trying to find their way out. Throughout these 'trials', people would undergo odd changes. Children would become wiser beyond their years, and many slowly take control of things human beings would naturally never would (time, nature, fire, telekinesis etc).
Throughout these crumbling the people would have to climb, were the people or beings affected by the chaos, these were people you'd avoid. Dimensions would become warped, and introduce shocking, horrifying and traumatizing things to pure humans, although, they're mostly extremely realistic hallucinations. But, you could never be too careful, considering what is there to harm you.
As the spirit had no way to contact these humans, they're lost. They don't know where they are, or what they're supposed to do. These previously mentioned changes scare them, they don't know why they're suddenly able to do such things.
These are the Novo Trials.
A sacred 'portal' that links dimensions, and changes people into who they really are.
