Hi! My USB iRDA just arrived and I was really excited to try out downloads with it! I installed the driver software and everything, then tried to connect to it. I have not been able to connect at all, although the USB's status is "ready to use". Would getting a more up to date driver software help? Or will it just take a while? I wondered if maybe it works better depending on position. My computer's USB ports are where it just sticks out, so I have to hold my iDL at a kind of odd angle to line it up. Would it help if I connected it to a hub or something? Please help!!!

I know your trouble happened to me when i got mine the other day. DO NOT HOLD IT. heep your computer AND the tamagotchi LEVEL!! keep the tamagotchi 1 inch apart.

now the usb is connected into your comp and ready to use.

next you need to connect your tamagotchi, your comuter will make a sound and an icon should pop up on your desktop. click that. it will open a window.

from that window you can now select what you want to put on your tama. and now you can connect your tama again and click connect on the window.

Thank you for the link! I have an update on what I am encountering.

Okay, I had finally gotten it to connect. The little icon was showing on my task bar and it said TMGC is in range, so I double clicked and a window came up asking me what I wanted to transfer. I selected the piano keyboard living file, and by then the connection on my iDL had terminated. I pressed B to keep it going and then pressed send on my computer. It tried for a long time, and the tama kept losing connection and I had to keep pressing B. After that, it gave me an error message:

"The transfer failed. An error occurred while infrared file transfer application was connecting to the other device. No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it."

When it says target machine, I'm assuming it means my iDL, so the computer thinks there's a problem with the iDL. I've tried dozens of times, and I either get the above error or, more recently:

"The transfer failed. An error occurred while infrared file transfer application was connecting to the other device. The requested address is not valid in its context."

I really don't know what to make of this. I have held it one inch from the USB, and I can't really not hold it unless I prop it up on a box or something, since I don't have a working USB hub. The computer seems to think there's a problem with the iDL. So I guess the development is, it connects but will not transfer files. If it helps any, I am using Windows Vista 32 bit.

EDIT: Anyway, I can't really do anything else with it tonight as my little Paletchi fell asleep hours ago. :p But suggestions are still very very welcome!

When the Transfer Files window appears, just browse for the file and don't send yet. Wait for the iD L to disconnect.

One it disconnects, re-connect and once you hear the infrared tone, immediately double click the file you want to send.

Yes! I just tried what you said and it finally worked! I guess I should double click the file instead of hitting send. So now I downloaded the mystery box game! Let me experiment with one more to make sure it's working. ...

Meh now it doesn't want to connect again. :p And now whenever I try to send a file the transfer window freezes up. I'll try again later. But at least I got one downloaded! ^_^ ; Any tips on how to get a good transfer every time?

Just that --- connect your iD L first just to make the "Send file" window appear. Use the opportunity to browse and look for your file.

Reconnect again and wait for the "beaming up" sound then double click your file. If you hear the "beaming down" sound, it means the connection has already terminated. Just reconnect again.

The important thing is to keep the Send file window open at all times. If it froze, that means you are already disconnected. It takes a few tries, but it's working. ;)

I was able to transfer one more item, a lemon soda. I think I'm getting the hang of it, it just takes a lot of patience. Although I don't hear any beaming sound whatsoever. Maybe I need to turn my sound up more on the computer.

The opening/closing beaming sounds will indicate whether you're still connected or not - they provide useful "cues" for you. :D

Great job in making it work! Welcome to the club of the highly-advanced LOL

YEAH I'M IN DA CLUB xDD

I'll listen for the beaming sounds when I try again it a few minutes. It doesn't seem to like me trying a bunch in a row.

I definitely have to turn my volume up REALLY loud in order to hear the beaming sounds. I don't know why they are so quiet. I have a lot of trouble with my USB IrDA also, though. It does take a lot of patience.
