The Tamagotchi Nano doesn't have mating; you need to reset it or wait for it to leave/die before getting a new egg.

Similar to the iD, you can basically keep your character as long as you want - until it decides to leave.
Once it does, it will leave you a note in Japanese saying "thanks!"; then you can press A+C at the same time to hatch a new egg. There are no "generations" in the Nanos.

Yes, if translated literally. However in this context, the character still left even if you take good care of them; hence the "Thanks" translation.
