The Tamagotchi Nano doesn't have mating; you need to reset it or wait for it to leave/die before getting a new egg.

Similar to the iD, you can basically keep your character as long as you want - until it decides to leave.

Once it does, it will leave you a note in Japanese saying "thanks!"; then you can press A+C at the same time to hatch a new egg. There are no "generations" in the Nanos.

Doesn't "Matane!" mean see you later? Bai Bai means goodbye.

Does it leave even if you take good care?

Yes, if translated literally. However in this context, the character still left even if you take good care of them; hence the "Thanks" translation.
