I was wondering, in order to get specific characters, do you have to have a certain skill as the majority, or does it have to reach a certain level? Any guides out there too the skill requirements for all the characters?

 
Yeah, whichever is your highest skill, and even how high it is can have an effect on which character you get. Here is a growth chart to show which character goes with which skill:

so, basically, from teen to adult, which personality level is the highest dictates which adult you get.

It depends on the parent's speices a lot, but for examle, if you'r tamagotchi's parent is from urakuchi group, and your teen currently is in urakuchi group, you can still change to another family group before adult stage by having a lot of the points for that family. I hope it makes sense, I'm pretty tired. :p
