Strange IR Connection Problem

I just received a used entama from ebay. The unit is in pretty bad condition but nothing major save for scratches on the screen, dirt and paint rubbed off in places. I put the battery in and it had a bit of connection problem but taking it out and putting it back in fixed that. Everything went smoothly until I tried to connect to another unit. I go through the menu and select on both entamas just like normal, the connect screen comes up but when I press the button to connect on either unit this one resets itself. I load it back and everything is good.

I did a little investigating, being decent with electronic repairs, and opened the whole thing. I cleaned all the connectors, buttons and contacts but saw no visible issue as to why this would happen. Visibly the unit looks great inside but it still resets when trying to connect. Any ideas guys? I'd really like to get this to play with all my other Tamagotchi.

This has happened to me with my Familitchi. Every time I tried to connect it, it would reset. I just needed a new battery and afterwards it connected with no problems. I honestly don't know if this is the deal with your entama, or if it's something different. Maybe you could try getting a different brand of batteries or just buy a fresh one?

I'll try a new brand. These Duracell batteries I got work in all my other Tamagotchi though.

I opened it up and compared it to my working entama and tried connecting without the IR cover on. Surprisingly, this seems to work fine. I got a successful connection!

So I played around with it and noticed that holding in the battery farther got it to work. The contacts must have bent down. This guy works great! Now for a new paint job!
