Tamagotchi P's download error

So I just recently bought the new Tamagotchi P's, then soon after bought a USB to IRDA adapter thinking that I would be able to download files.

The problem is that everytime I try to download a file, some form of error comes up like "cannot send files/folders. there is no infrared devices in range" when there is and something saying that there is an error sending at times.

I'm not really sure what to do and there is nothing posted on how to download files to tamagotchi P's so any feedback would be appreciated.

The procedure to send a download to a Tamagotchi Ps is the same as for sending one to a Tamagotchi iD or Tamagotchi iD L. A TamaTalk user explains how they got a USB-IR dongle to work:
