My sister got me some Tamagotchis (V3, V2, V1 and another V4), and three of them were working fine. But, the V2's buttons were not responding. My Dad had to see if he could get them working. He only got the B button working, but not the A and C buttons. He said that the A and C buttons are corroded and wet (from water or some other liquid). The problem is, how can my Dad get the A and C buttons working if they are corroded? Will I have a one-button-working Tamagotchi? I can't run it if there's only one button working!

I pressed the B button, immediate response (after Dad got that button working). A and C, nothing. I tried holding the A button to change the date. Nothing. The C button, doesn't do anything at all (because it is not used in the setup) even though I tried resetting it.

What do I do? The rest of my Tamagotchis (V3, V1 and the second V4) work, but not the V2 with the U.S. Army Camouflage design.

He just tried without the alcohol (just with a cotton swab, we don't have rubbing alcohol), and he only got the B button working, but the A and C buttons were corroded with water. What else can we do to get the A and C buttons working? Like try to get the water off of the two buttons? Because I can't play with a one-working-button Tamagotchi V2. It'd be pointless to play with it if there is only one button that works while the other two don't.

Electrical contact cleaner.  Take the whole thing apart.  Do not spray this stuff on the paint of the egg shell as it could make it smear.

Spray that and rub it with the cotton swab, if it's still badly corroded you could try cleaning it off with some RED scotch brite or some 320'ish grit sand paper.  Be careful not to ruin the traces on the PCB if you use an abrasive to remove the corrosion.

After that, I personally apply a little flux and solder them lightly (you'll need a low wattage soldering pencil).

Dielectric grease would prevent the moisture from getting in there and destroying it again.  The dielectric grease will also prevent batteries from corroding the connectors as well.

If buttons A and C are corroded, then maybe you should buy some new buttons online. :)

Or better yet, if you have a broken Tamagotchi or a Tamagotchi which is not being used, you can take the buttons out of there and put them in the V2.

This may help you.
