I really really need to get better at controlling myself with online shopping (especially buying tamagotchis on ebay!)

Do you guys ever have that feeling of like, if you don't buy it right away that the price will only go up later etc (because I've had that happen, and now I have really bad impulse buying habits when it comes to tamagotchis).

This week has been particularly crazy.

How do you guys handle it?

 
Since I only get paid once a month I'll see something I want and have to wait weeks to order it. All the while hoping and praying that It'll still be available when I have the money. Waiting for the item to arrive is another issue. I'm not a patient person. If I'm able to order a Tamagotchi P's Friday the wait will be excruciating considering it will take weeks to get here.

 
Ahh I see, I get paid every two weeks and I always worry that prices will go up if I don't snag something right away (because that's happened to me before D: ) Same here in terms of waiting for something to arrive though, I have a few packages coming in the mail and there's no tracking so I just check the mail obsessively. xD

 
I forbid myself to go on ebay at all, unless there is something specific I'm aching for, which occurs rather rarely.

If I really wish for a new tama, I mentally put up a max price for what I'd like to pay for it, before I scroll ebay in search. Then I scroll eBay regularly until I find what I'm looking for. :p

 
That's a good idea! I feel like usually I'm "just browsing" but then I get really tempted by what I think is a good deal...I have school fees and such to pay next year though so I feel like I'm being a little irresponsible every time I go on ebay...maybe I should block myself. xD

 
I definitely know how you feel! Maybe try and dissociate yourself from eBay and remove your method of payment?

The other day I lost an auction, so impulsively I bought another Tamagotchi instead. Completely unnecessary. :(

 
Nerdbot: Good idea! So far I've managed to only bid on things that I don't have already, not just because they're good deals (which sounds lame, but that's improvement for me xD)

I do that too though! Like if I resist buying one item, I'll feel sorry for myself and just buy a different one. This happens a lot when I see expensive tamagotchis (ie $80+) and decide "that's too much..." but then I'll go and buy 3 $20 ones...go figure...xD
